Discuss who in the medical profession should be on the risk management program and why they should.

(part 1)
Marketers are always faced with a balancing act of quality versus quantity. It becomes a balancing act, because you unquestionably need both to accomplish
content marketing success. But time, budget constraints, staffing shortages, and a host of other aspects prevent both quality and quantity from working together on a regular basis. When it comes to health care marketing, which is better:
• “Less is more” – Reduce volume of marketing content, minimize production costs, and focus on subjective quality at the expense of quantity?
• “More is more” – Provide robust marketing content at a rapid pace, increased production cost, and focus on information quantity at the expense of low quality?
Are there instances where either of the scenarios would be suitable to use? What are the repercussions of each? So, when you have to choose sides, which do you choose?

(part 2)

In some health-care facilities, the risk management program also includes a health risk assessment program. Whereas, a risk management program is intended to reduce the incidents of malpractice lawsuits; to reduce preventable injuries and accidents; and, of course, minimize financial severity of claims; health risk assessment programs are more concerned with the education of staff and patients about the connection between lifestyle habits and disease with an outcome of lowering potential risk factors for disease.

  1. In your opinion, do you believe that there is conflict between the goals of the risk management program and the risk assessment program when they are both part of the same program?
  2. Discuss who in the medical profession should be on the risk management program and why they should.

(part 3)
Review the article, “Clinical information systems end user satisfaction: The expectations and needs congruencies effects”, and discuss your expectations for satisfaction playing the role of end-user.

Review the provided scenario and consider external environmental factors that may impact the organization’s strategic planning

Accountable health care leaders must respond to external factors in a way that is advantageous for the organization and the community. While health care organizations must strive to improve their financial positions, it should never be at the expense of the populations they are serving. For this Assignment, examine the following scenario and consider strategies to limit the negative impact of external factors and improve organizational success.

Scenario: A small independent hospital in rural Georgia is seeking to attain Magnet Status. This designation demonstrates to stakeholders that the organization is committed to delivering high-quality patient care. With this designation, the organization can easily attract and retain a highly-engaged clinical staff. Moreover, it provides the organization an opportunity to market itself to potential patients as the place to receive top-quality care. This means that the organization could realize a greater market share of insured and private pay patients traveling as far as 100 miles just to receive the quality services. It also positions the organization to enter into joint ventures with physician groups eager to provide new services, which would lead to increased revenue streams.
Although the designation sounds like a great opportunity for the organization, the board of directors is split on their support of this designation. The board members in support of the designation understand the great value that this program will bring to the facility; however, those in opposition learned from a research study that non-magnet hospitals had better infection control and less post-operative sepsis. They also learned from another study that working conditions in a magnet facility are not better than those in non-magnet facilities. Therefore, the dissenting directors have concluded that the organization should not invest its time and resources to seek this credential. The CEO must get support from an overwhelming majority of the board to move forward with pursuing this designation.
To prepare:
Review the provided scenario and consider external environmental factors that may impact the organization’s strategic planning (e.g., policy and economics, laws and ethics, health care quality, and population health).
Note: Your Assignment should show effective application of triangulation of content and resources in your conclusion and recommendations.
The Assignment
In a 2-page executive summary, do the following:
• Identify and evaluate the impact of external environmental factors on the strategic planning of the organization in the scenario.
• Recommend strategies to address these external factors and limit their influence on organizational operations.

Review the Hillsboro County Home Health Agency, Inc. (HCHHA) case study in this week’s Learning Resources.

Discuss with your colleagues how you approached your searches for scholarly literature. What strategies did you use to sort through the literature you found?

On December 2, 2010, the federal Public Health Service announced a release of the newest document in this series, Healthy People 2020. This document sets health objectives for the nation for the next 10 years. Go to Healthy People 2020. You will notice that there are tabs across the top of the home page that will take you anywhere you want to go in this rather extensive document. Access and read “About Healthy People” first, and then return to the home page and click on the topics and objectives tab. You will find a list of topics, some of which are designated as “new” in red. Click on any topic, and the objectives related to that topic will come up. Then, click on “details” next to any objective to obtain baseline and target information, as well as data sources for the data that will be used to determine whether the baseline (our existing health statistic information) and target (the improvement expected over the next ten years in that statistic).
This is a large document, and you can explore it by reading the material accessed through the tabs on the home page, as well as links embedded throughout the document. Pick the topics you are most interested in and feel would be most relevant to your search for information. For example, looking at topics r/t common causes of death and illness and those that impact the whole population, but are of particular interest because they lead to illnesses with a large impact on older adults (many of these are chronic diseases such as heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, etc.) would make the most sense—but nobody could look at all of the data available here for one paper, so you’ll need to personalize your interest areas and focus there. Be sure to include something about determinants of health (which you will find in several areas) and can search for specifically by using the window at the top right of the home page to type in a specific determinant–for example, exercise– and an age group). Quality of life is also discussed in several places, including in the topic related to older adults.
You will probably not be able to read all of this report, but as you choose topics to explore further from the list provided, you will find the needed information to help you understand and discuss the health and health needs of the nation and your community in the required paper. Be sure to include:

  1. A discussion of the relationships between quality of life and health improvement.
  2. A list & definition of “determinants of health” for all people, with an emphasis on older adults.
  3. Evaluation of the level of health of our country, your community, and the level of health that you individually have achieved. To complete this, you will want to look at the Health Indicators discussed on the HP website. You will also have to do more research about your state and community’s health indicators using the text and websites for your state and community in order to complete this section of the assignment.
  4. Be sure to address health disparities within the country and community in your response.
  5. Research Problems
  6. $ 10.00
  7. Scholarly literature plays an integral role in research studies. Background research provides the foundation of the research problem and purpose. A greater in-depth search of the literature results in the literature review, which provides the scholarly context for the proposed study. Discuss with your colleagues how you approached your searches for scholarly literature. What strategies did you use to sort through the literature you found? Did you find both primary and secondary sources? In short, what have been your successes as well as your frustrations in obtaining scholarly literature in support of your research proposal?
