Theories are psychoanalytical theory,Coginitive theory, behavioral and social cognitive theory

In this activity, we will explore the theories of development and how each approaches the three basic issues in lifespan development. (Review the issues in Chapter 1). Look at this site:

https://courses.lumenlearning.com/wmopen-psychology/chapter/what-is-lifespan-development/

1-  First, review the 3 “grand” issues (nature/nurture, one course/many, continuity/discontinuity) of developmental psychology. Read the article as the above link

2-  Next, summarize your own views on these 3 issues.

3-  Third, choose one of the theorists discussed on pages 12-21. Theories are psychoanalytical theory,Coginitive theory, behavioral and social cognitive theory

Ethnological eclectic theory,   Summarize all of them, Which theory most closely matches your own ideas? What are the strengths of this theory? The limits? How does this theory deal with each of these issues?

Describe your immediate reaction to the scenario. What are the details you immediately noticed? What questions did the scenario raise about testing?

A school psychologist uses an IQ test to identify students who would benefit from gifted programs and special education. According to the school district policy, new students must be tested for placement. A student from a rural school relocates to an urban school within the same district. The school psychologist tests the student and observes a change in the IQ score from testing done two months prior.

Case Analysis

In a 5-6 page paper, addressing the following information:

1. Describe your immediate reaction to the scenario. What are the details you immediately noticed? What questions did the scenario raise about testing?

2. Identify and explain 3 factors that impact performance on IQ tests.

3. Identify and discuss 3 reliability and validity concerns with the scenario.

4.  Identify and explain at least 3 ethical concerns  as per the APA Ethical Codes and how you would resolve the concerns.

Integrate academic sources on psychological assessment to support your position.

APA format, using 12 pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with a title and references page. An abstract is not necessary. The paper should integrate 5-6 scholarly resources.

The Case of Sheila – Counseling African Americans

In order to complete this activity, you must read PART 1 (CA) and the following sections from Chapter 1 (WC Book) : Cultural Characteristics Specific to African American Women; Adaptive Strategies;  and Therapeutic Interventions for African American Women.

Make sure you provide in-text citations (e.g., Corey, 2017, p. 248) first citing the required readings, and then additional readings if you would like to add material from other sources. This is not necessary, but it is necessary to cite often in your assignments. Then add the references at the end of the assignment – all in APA style of writing.

DROP BOX ASSIGNMENT

The Case of Sheila

Sheila, an African American student, began treatment at a local counseling center because of the stress of her first year of graduate school in biology. In an early session describing her feelings of alienation on campus, she complained to her counselor that one of her professors described research investigating genetic causes of Black violence, as if African Americans were inferior and genetically prone to violence. Although her White female counselor empathized with her, being a cognitive-behavioral scientist-practitioner, the counselor tried to explain the teacher’s perspective by saying, “It may help to know that in the pursuit of knowledge, scientists should be able to study any topic.” The student was offended and angrily quipped, “Well, I never heard about studies of a gene of violence in Whites back when they were lynching and conquering everybody.”

Questions:

1) What do you think were the reasons behind Sheila’s counselor’s comments?

2) What do you think were the reasons behind Sheila’s response?

3) If you were Sheila’s counselor, how would you have responded to Sheila’s feelings of alienation?

PSYCHOLOGY: BEHAVIORISM

MODULE 4 ASSIGNMENT

TOPIC: Synthesis Paper-Origins of Behaviorism

Synthesis is the act of creating something new from multiple existing entities. Synthesis of research, then, is creating a new idea from existing ideas. It is a process developed through time and practice. In this assignment, you will apply the synthesis process to the articles and topics from the first four Topics of this course. Consider the development of behaviorism, including the precursors and contemporaries of the early behaviorists. What limitations existed in those theories and practices, and how did the early behaviorists aim to resolve them?

General Requirements:
Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

· Refer to the resource “Template: Origins of Behaviorism Paper.” ATTACHED

· Review the journal readings from the first four Topics of this course. You may wish to create annotations for the readings from Topics 3 and 4 for use in the synthesis process.

· Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments.

· Refer to Chapters 2-4 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) for specific guidelines related to doctoral-level writing. These chapters contain essential information on manuscript structure and content, clear and concise writing, and academic grammar and usage.

· Use academic sources, including peer-reviewed journal articles, government reports, and other instructor-approved texts. Make sure to cite at least three different articles during your discussion on this first researcher.

Directions:
Using all of the material you read in the first four modules, any academic resources from outside of course material, and the outline provided below and duplicated in “Template: Origins of Behaviorism Paper”, write a paper (2,000-2,250 words) in which you synthesize articles and do the following:

1. Trace the origins of behaviorism and the impetus for its development.

2. Discuss behaviorism as the 2nd major force in psychology and why is behaviorism a “better” alternative than the first force of psychology which was the Freudian psychoanalytic theory.

3. Identify three crucial researchers in the school of behaviorism and analyze the contributions of these researchers to the development of behaviorism. Make sure to cite at least three different articles during your discussion on this first researcher.
