Case History

When conducting an evaluation, it is also important to consider the client’s demography as a possible contributing factor.

Use the module readings and the Argosy University online library resources to research methods of recording case histories.

Create a case history for a person with an addiction that clearly traces contributing factors. Do not include identifying information. At this point, do not include details of any mental illness that would constitute a dual diagnosis. Be sure to cover the following components in your case history:

  • Demographics – including age, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, marital status, number and ages of children, living arrangements, and religion if applicable
  • Family background
  • Education
  • Employment
  • History of chemical use
  • Description of the current problem (include history of previous treatment, if any)

After completing the case history, consider ethical standards in relation to this client. What potential ethical issues exist or may come into play with this client? Be sure to include at least one ethical issue. Explore multiculturalism, duty to report/warn, and confidentiality. For example, if the client has children, explain how duty to report may come into play when working with this client.

Write a 3–4-page report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of  at least 5 sources.

Describe the changes in the historical views of health and the events that triggered those changes.

What are the variables in the study; what are the factors being correlated?

Discussion Question  1

There are many popular movies, theatre productions, and television shows that involve the theme of memory and amnesia. Choose one and provide a summary and analysis of the accuracy with which the character is portrayed as an individual afflicted with the condition.

Please answer the discussion question by completing the following:

1.Refer to and integrate ideas presented in the text and supplemental readings.

2.Cite outside resources if necessary to make your point.

3.Follow APA style rules for citations and references.

You will be evaluated on how well you can demonstrate that you understand the ideas presented throughout the unit, including assigned readings, discussions, and independent investigations. You will also be evaluated on the quality of your work: its academic rigor, how well it shows your ability to think critically, and how completely it covers the questions asked.

Discussion Question 2

For this discussion, refer to the quantitative correlational research study you found in the Capella University Library. Use the Article Analysis Worksheet to prepare for this discussion. Briefly summarize the article (1–2 paragraphs). Discuss the following aspects of the study:

4.What are the variables in the study; what are the factors being correlated?

5.Was the correlation positive or negative?

6. What is the interpretation or meaning of the results of the correlation?

Discuss how this theory compliments your own view of personality development.

Movie: The Blind Side

*Choose ONE character from the movie to apply the two choosen theories too. Remember you do not talk about the character in this section. You need a character to decide on theories for section 1.

For Section 1 of your course project, you will select two theories of personality presented in this class to examine and analyze and then apply these theories to a film character in Section 2. Do not describe your movie character in Section 1; you will do this in Section 2. Section 1 is only about your examination of two personality theories. Section 1 should be 4–5 pages (excluding the title page and reference list) and include at least four professional references. In order to complete your project, it is necessary for you to determine which two personality theories to apply to the character in your chosen film. Choose two of the following theories explored in this course:

  • Psychodynamic.
  • Phenomenological.
  • Behavioral.
  • Trait.
  • Social-cognitive.

In Section 1, address the following areas for each theory:

  1. Basic philosophies of the theory. (Describe the main theoretical tenets, view of human nature.)
  2. Describe three to four theoretical constructs.
  3. Identify limitations and criticisms of the theory.
  4. Discuss how this theory compliments your own view of personality development.
