It is important to understand the sociological perspectives of religion because it helps in defining and understanding the role and function of religion in the society. Sociological perspectives of religion, aid people in interpreting the various issues that relate to religion, hence the importance of sociological perspectives (Wilcox 24). It is also important to understand sociological perspectives of religion in the sense that it provides a basis of defining influence of religion in peoples lives and the interpretation of symbols used by various outfits (Eshleman et al. 37).

All major faiths exhibit certain commonalities that cut across the board. For instance, all major faiths have a community of believers who subscribe to the beliefs and teachings of the particular outfit. Moreover, all the major faiths have a supernatural authority to whom they owe allegiance in this case God. It is also important to note that all major faiths have some level of influence in the society to the extent that they shape the behavior and understanding of individuals about certain aspects of life.

The basis of every religion is to promote fundamental moral standards in the society. Religion promotes and reaffirms the significance of values in the society. Consequently, religion encourages individuals to engage positively in every dimension of life as a consequence of ensuring harmony and peaceful coexistence in the society. Essentially, religion creates bonds between different people and groups in the society to help deal with conflicts and inherent disagreements in the society (Furseth and Pål 151).

2. How do politics and political affiliations affect society?

The extent to which politics and political affiliations affect the society cannot be overemphasized. Political decisions are a major source of impact to the society to the extent that what is decided on the basis of politics affects relationships and structures of the society. Political parties in a given society have different ideologies and manifestos that are presented to the public for a public vote. The idea of presenting a particular ideology to sections of the society is make them agree or oppose a particular move emanating from a different group. Governments are political outfits elected by the people through a popular initiative. The government, therefore, has a mandate and authority to promote and safeguard the interest of the people (Huntington 64).

The laws that are initiated by the government regulate and govern relationships and value systems to a greater extent. For instance, in some areas such as the Middle East, there is a particular way of dressing and the relationships between people or groups are governed by the norms instituted by the state. The social fabric of the society is determined by the behavior of political players (Huntington 64). Moreover, politics can cause tension and conflicts in the society. Case in point is that when political outfits disagree on certain fundamental issues, the misunderstanding spill to the public, thus generating conflicts in the society.

Political affiliations affect the society in the sense that when individuals subscribe to a given ideology or agenda furthered by a particular party or group, it breaks the bond that hold the society together (Morgan and Suzanne 312). For instance, when social democracy clashes with capitalistic tendencies, the society is left in disharmony. Consequently, political affiliations aid in meeting the demands of the people. For example, political affiliations act as the voices of the people in different spheres of the society either economically or socially.

Week 6: Program Evaluation: What, Why, and How

Most agencies prepare an annual report that includes the number of services or units of service provided, the number of individuals served, and information about demographics of the population served. This is generally accompanied by a budget summary, which includes sources and amounts of income and categories of expenses. In the past, that might have been adequate information to satisfy the public and funders, but today, stakeholders are demanding greater accountability for measurable results.

Program evaluations can provide insights into questions that such reports leave unanswered. As a social worker, you may be asked to play a role in a program evaluation. You should understand the nature and purpose of program evaluations and how they contribute to better social work practice. Then, you can reap the full benefit of such evaluations and adequately address the concerns of stakeholders.

This week, you analyze the benefits of two types of program evaluations, process, and outcome evaluations. You also analyze stakeholder concerns about evaluation. Finally, you recommend a program evaluation model and plan a program evaluation.

Discussion: Program Evaluation: Benefits and Concerns of Stakeholders

Dudley (2020) points out that social work practice is usually embedded in programs. While you looked at practice evaluation using single-subject design in Week 3, this week, you shift focus to program evaluation. Program evaluation serves many purposes, including accountability to funders and to the public. Often, funding sources such as government agencies or private foundations requires periodic program evaluations. These evaluations can help provide answers to many different questions, and can contribute to improvement of services. There are a variety of program evaluation models that are appropriate for addressing different questions as well as facilitating the collection and analysis of many different types of data.

 

To prepare for this Discussion, identify a program within an agency with which you are familiar, which could benefit from process evaluation and outcome evaluation. You do not need to identify the agency in your post. Also, review the different evaluation models highlighted in this week’s resources (needs assessment, program monitoring, client satisfaction study, outcome evaluation, or cost benefit study).

 

The program we will utilize for this discussion is the Client Transportation Program at an agency whose clients have mental health conditions and substance use disorder.  The agency picks up client in the morning around 7:30am to bring them to the agency for Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) group and counseling services.  Transportation then returns the clients to the sober living houses after group.  Client are required to visit with their counselors and therapists after IOP group on a regularly scheduled basis.  Client’s who remain in the building for services are often not sure how and when they will return to their sober living houses because transportation is out returning the other clients.  Evaluating and improving this process would benefit the client as they would have a scheduled transportation appointment and reduce the stress on the clients and agency staff as client’s currently feel rushed to complete their counseling sessions to not miss their transpirtation.

The report indicates that the LFS essentially tracks two different types of teleworkers, including those working in their premises and those working in particular places like on the train, at their client’s homes, or in the cars. However, all the two types of teleworking services use the home comfort as their primary setups. In 2005, the majority of teleworkers worked in several places but used the home as their center. The number represents a whopping 1.8 million out of a total 2.4 million. These figures just demonstrate how the labor market is vigorously shifting from the more demanding contractual basis to the less critical self-employment context.

There are several factors central to the sudden change in the labor market context. The first primary aspect is the advancement in technology. The new skills and equipment have revolutionized and redefined the entire workforce because it has brought a range of capabilities that were initially far-fetched. For example, in the case study, the rise of computers and telephones has changed the game because it has made work easier for builders. They can efficiently execute particular duties at home and at the same time communicate with clients. This scenario contrasts the traditional white-collar-job setup that requires an employee to link remotely with the employer.

Apart from technology, several other reasons perhaps drive employees away from the customary right jobs, hence making home based work more appealing and convenient. First, some contracts are not guaranteed.

The visitor attraction site under discussion in this paper is located in the Lake District in the North-Western part of England, Cumbria. The attraction site currently serves as England’s largest National park and is within the jurisdiction of England. The location of the national park comprises other features that include lake, falls, and mountains which offer beautiful scenery especially for hikers and mountain climbers. National contests have already identified the place for climbing and other contest activities.
