Abnormal Psych Case Study

This is a three part assignment.  ALL parts of the assignment are listed below. MUST BE IN APA FORMAT!!  Final paper is to be labled case study and no longer that 2 pages!

 

Milestone One: Topic Selection

In task 2-4, submit your topic selection by choosing a character for the final project. The assignment should be submitted in the form of a paragraph as to why you have selected this character. Submit your choice to the instructor for approval. This milestone will be given full points for submission and 0 points for no submission. Feedback should be applied to the final project.

 

Milestone Two: Annotated Bibliography

In task 5-4, submit your annotated bibliography. The assignment should be submitted in the form of a Word document containing a list of at least five references from established books or peer-reviewed journals that will be used in the final paper, including a paragraph-long description of each resource. This milestone is graded separately using the Annotated Bibliography Rubric. Feedback should be applied to the final project.

 

Final Product: Psychological Assessment

In task 7-3, submit your completed psychological assessment of a fictional character. The completed paper will consist of two parts. The case study portion of the project should not exceed two pages in length and should be clearly labeled with the heading “Case Study.” The psychological assessment portion of the project should be four to six pages in length and should be clearly labeled with the heading “Psychological Assessment.” The paper should be in APA format and should be six to eight pages in length total. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the main elements of the final product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This milestone will be graded using the Final Project Rubric (below).

 

Vulnerable mothers and children

  1. This week’s second discussion forum will focus on two selected groups:
    • Vulnerable mothers and children
    • People affected by alcohol and substance abuse

    Review the video segments titled “Premature Babies: Risks and Costs” (Vulnerable Mothers and Children group) and “Social Cost of Alcohol Abuse” (People Affected by Alcohol and Substance Abuse group) through the Films On Demand database or in the textbook.

    • For each segment, select three specific factors from Chapter 2 (e.g., age, gender, culture, ethnicity, education, and income) that are present.
    • Reflecting on your experiences and knowledge gained in previous courses, discuss how these factors relate to the group’s vulnerability.
    • Based on the selected factors, assess the health care needs that can be inferred for each group. Discuss which approach(es) to care from Chapter 4, Section 4.1 (i.e., preventive, treatment, or long term), might help address them.

    Your initial contribution should be 250 to 300 words in length. Your research and claims must be supported by a minimum of two scholarly sources beyond your course text.  Use proper APA formatting for in-text citations and references as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Discuss how physical activity may benefit this population.

Research health-promotion programs that assist older adults who have disabilities, diseases, or disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, depression, HIV/AIDS, or Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Choose one disability, disease, or disorder—and associated health promotion programs—to focus on.

 

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper discussing health-promotion programs for older adults who have the disability, disease, or disorder. Include the following in your paper:

 

  • Identify available wellness programs.
  • Provide a summary of how the selected disability, disease, or disorder affects older adults.
  • Include demographic information of the population affected by the disability, disease, or disorder.
  • Address nutritional needs for this population.
  • Discuss how physical activity may benefit this population.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Relate psychological concepts to real-world situations.

Assignment 1.2: Significant Event Final Paper
Due Week 8 and worth 190 points

Note: Students will turn in this assignment twice: first as a draft (Week 4 Assignment) and then as a final paper (Week 8 Assignment). Students will submit first draft of the assignment and then submit the final draft after receiving feedback from the professor and making the recommended changes. They will be graded separately for each submission of the assignment

In order to revise Assignment 1.1 use professor feedback of the first draft you submitted in Week 4.

Before revising the assignment you should:

Review the feedback from your professor
Review the criteria for Assignment 1.1; make sure you have addressed the criteria thoroughly.
Select a significant event (either positive or negative) that occurred before you reached adulthood and that has had a life-shaping effect on your life. In this assignment, you will use what you’ve learned in Weeks 1 thru 4 of this course and base your paper on your readings, along with information from library research, to discuss psychological aspects of your event.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

Briefly describe your significant event (one to two [1-2] sentences).
Describe your event in terms of at least two (2) different perspectives in psychology (e.g., behavioral, cognitive, psychodynamic, cultural/social, etc.)
Determine what learning (e.g., classical, operant, etc.) may have resulted from your event, or arisen because of your event.
Discuss why the memory of the event you described may or may not be completely accurate.
Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: One of these resources may be your textbook. Articles from professional journals are certainly a high quality resource. Magazine and newspaper articles are also accepted for this assignment. Articles published on the Internet may also be suitable, if they originate with credible persons or organizations. Please note that articles from Wikipedia, ask.com, and the like are not suitable.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length.
