Determine and include an additional five ambivalent or mixed feelings (or phrases) not already listed as examples in the template. Provide a description of what you have heard people say.

Now that you have imported your data and run frequency tables, take the next step and run descriptive statistics. Remember to calculate the descriptive statistics for the appropriate variables in your data set. Descriptive statistics are most appropriate for interval and ratio data. Create a hypothesis for the data; it can be anything, based on the variables you have in your data. Creating these hypotheses affords you the opportunity to think like a researcher to better understand and critique research articles you read.

Use IBM SPSS software to calculate the appropriate descriptive statistics for the variables designated in your documentation. Descriptive statistics are most appropriate for interval and ratio data.

Create a hypothesis for the data; it can be anything, based on the variables you have in your data.

  • For example: Teaching Method X provides higher test scores than Teaching Method Y.

Create a null hypothesis, such as the following: Teaching Method X scores are equal to Teaching Method Y scores.

Summarize the results of the calculation in 45 to 90 words.

Submit the IBM SPSS output and your summary to your instructor.

Tasks:

For this assignment, you are to follow the directions to fill out a Feelings template. Then, you will read two articles involving encouragement and write a 2 page response.

Part 1: Nothing But Feelings Template

Using the Nothing But Feelings Template: I ALSO ATTACHED TEMPLATE

  • Complete the template’s list with at least seven feeling words under each of the five core feeling categories (happy, sad, angry, lonely, and scared).
  • Determine and include an additional five ambivalent or mixed feelings (or phrases) not already listed as examples in the template. Provide a description of what you have heard people say.
  • Identify five metaphor statements and the basic core feelings that underlie each (i.e., happy, sad, angry, scared, and lonely). Write a brief justification as to why you sense this core feeling would underlie the metaphor.

Describe the psychological theory or theories that relate to the mental disorders, especially in the areas of diagnosis and treatment.

For Week 3, utilize the mental disorder categories from DSM-5 to do an annotated bibliography on current research (within the last five years) on two disorders derived from the following list of mental disorder categories:

  • Neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Neurocognitive disorders
  • Schizophrenia spectrum and other disorders
  • Depressive disorders
  • Bipolar and related disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Trauma- and stressor-related disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders
  • Somatic symptom and related disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Personality disorders

The literature review is part of a final paper which will be due in Week 5. As part of choosing scholarly journal articles for the literature review, you will use the following subtopics in determining what articles to use.

  • Describe from the origins or history of the mental disorders.
  • Describe the psychological theory or theories that relate to the mental disorders, especially in the areas of diagnosis and treatment.
  • Describe the difference, if any, in age of onset and diagnostic criteria based on gender.
  • Explain the potential impact of the mental disorders on the individual and his or her family.
  • Explain the social perceptions of the mental disorders from stigma to advocacy.

Using the South University Online Library only, find three journal articles related to each topic area chosen. (Your textbook, Wikipedia, or any other Web source will not be accepted for this assignment.) The journal articles have to be from peer-reviewed scholarly journals. The articles do not need to be empirical studies but are required to be from primary sources.

  • Write a summary for each of the journal articles found.
  • Write an analysis and evaluation for each of the journal articles found

Describe how these strengths are expressed in your daily life. Are there any you do not exercise regularly?

Using your results, write a 350- to 700-word paper covering the following points:

  • What were your five highest strengths?
  • Describe how these strengths are expressed in your daily life. Are there any you do not exercise regularly?
  • If your highest strengths are not used regularly in your work or school life, discuss changes you could make to remedy this.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

What behaviors and skills are necessary to successfully work as a practitioner for change in organizations? What attitudes toward client work help a consulting professional become successful, and what attributes, or personal qualities, are essential for this kind of work? To be a consulting professional, you must possess certain competencies, including knowledge, behaviors, and skills beyond technical ability. To be successful, you must also be rigorous in your ability to analyze the nuances of ethical situations and to apply the foundations of consultation psychology and higher order thinking to assess and diagnose problematic situations.

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources. Consider competencies and ethical issues faced by organizational change practitioners.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 an explanation of four critical competencies needed by an organizational change practitioner. Provide a rationale to support your explanation. Then, explain one ethical issue that an organizational change practitioner might face.

Finally, explain the personal competencies you, as an organizational change practitioner, might need to apply effective interventions for the ethical issue that you identified.

What is the relationship between applied research and basic research? Provide an example from your selected studies, of how each contributes to the body of knowledge.

Part1- Due Thursday Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

Jill is conducting an experiment on the effects of story themes (traditional vs. non-traditional) on memory for story details. She is paying participants $5 to complete a research protocol that takes about 40 minutes. Prior to beginning the protocol, participants sign a consent form. Jill is present during this time to answer questions and clarify areas of concern. Sarah reads the consent form, agrees to participate and begins the protocol. After about 12 minutes, she gets up and tells Jill that she ‘has to go.’ She says she is sorry but she cannot complete the protocol. Jill offers her an additional $10 to stay in the study and complete the required tasks.

Is Jill’s behavior ethical? Why or why not? Use the relevant section of the APA Code of Ethics to justify your response.

Part2-Search for research articles from peer-reviewed publications in the University Library. Examples of peer-reviewed publications are listed in Table 2.1 in Chapter 2 of Methods in Behavioral Research.

Select four research articles to review. Include at least one applied research article and one basic research article. Be sure to apply the scientific method to evaluate the evidence presented in the selected articles. Use these articles as a framework for completing the questionnaire.

Write a 100- to 500-word answer to each of the following questions:

PART I:

  • What is the purpose of each of the sections in a typical research article?
  • What are the steps to critically evaluate research articles and how does the scientific method help you do this?

PART II:

  • What is the importance of research in behavioral sciences?
  • What is the relationship between applied research and basic research? Provide an example from your selected studies, of how each contributes to the body of knowledge.
  • What ethical issues can you identify in the selected articles? How were the issues addressed or neglected?

PART III:

  • Identify three possible research topics that you might want to explore further as you go through this course.
  • List appropriate sources, including databases that you might use when exploring these topics.

Cite the articles using a reference page.

Format your answers according to APA guidelines.
