Picture Of Middle Age Development

Picture of Middle Age Development

In M2: Assignment 2, you met Jeff at age 23.

Jeff is now 50 years old. He is still overweight and has developed both high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. At the same time, Jeff has some accomplishments. He is the CEO of a midsize company that he built from the ground up. However, he works long hours and does not spend as much time with friends or vacationing as he would like. Still, he lives a comfortable life and is married, with two children. He has a daughter in college and another who is a senior in high school.

Use your module readings and the Argosy University online library resources to research the stages of adult development proposed by Erik Erikson and Daniel Levinson. Locate at least two peer-reviewed articles that examine these theories. Write a 4-5 page paper in which you compare and contrast Erikson’s and Levinson’s theories of development during midlife and summarize the findings and conclusions of at least two research studies examining Erikson’s and Levinson’s theories.
In your paper, use Erikson’s and Levinson’s theories to

·         Describe the physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development of Jeff as he has transitioned from early adulthood into middle adulthood.

·         Predict Jeff’s development as he moves through middle adulthood and into late adulthood.

Be sure to incorporate how issues specific to diversity (e.g., socioeconomic status, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc.) have affected his transition into middle adulthood. For example, consider how Jeff’s transition into middle adulthood would differ if he were Caucasian, African-American, Asian-American, or Native-American. Similarly, how would his development at midlife differ depending upon whether he lived in New York City, Tucson, or Memphis?

Write a 4–5-page paper in Word format. Your paper should be double-spaced and in 12 point, Times New Roman font with normal one-inch margins, written in APA style, and free of typographical and grammatical errors.  It should include a title page with a running head and a reference page. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.doc.

Describe how middle adulthood provides stability in a person’s life.

To support your work make sure to utilize your course and text readings. When asked also utilize outside sources as well. As in all assignments make sure to cite your sources in your work and provide a reference for that citation utilizing APA format.

Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between one or more lines of reasoning in the discussion.

Part 1:

A person’s lifestyle has a significant influence on the person’s health and development as he or she moves into middle age (and old age). Stability and change are also common factors in an adult’s life.

  • Describe how middle adulthood provides stability in a person’s life. Explain some of the factors that would lead to stability in a person’s life as he or she moves through middle age.
  • Describe some of the more common lifestyle issues that have a negative impact on a person’s continued development. Explain how a person may be able to reverse some of the lifestyle influences.
  • On the basis of your readings, describe what is meant by a midlife crisis. Explain why a midlife crisis may or may not be critical.

Justify your answers with appropriate reasoning and research from your text and course readings. Comment on the postings of at least two peers, and provide an analysis of each peer’s postings while also suggesting specific additions or clarifications for improving the discussion question response.

Part 2:

Erikson, Helson, and Levinson provide different perspectives on middle age in adulthood.

  • Describe each of these theories as it relates to middle adulthood.
  • On the basis of your readings, compare and contrast these theories. Which one gives a better explanation of middle adulthood?

Discuss current or future applications of nanotechnology in fields such as medicine

Assignment 2: Nanotechnology Applications

Nanotechnology (also called nanotech) is a branch of materials science that deals with manipulating matter on the atomic scale. It is so called because this field deals with engineering on the scale of a billionth of a meter, also known as a nanometer. Nanotechnology seeks to solve a wide range of problems from the construction of atomic scale machines to changing material properties at the atomic level.

Use the Internet, Argosy University library resources, and your textbook to research the field of nanotechnology.

Write a paper discussing some of the basic scientific and technical concepts of nanotechnology. Do the following in your paper:

  • Discuss current or future applications of nanotechnology in fields such as medicine, engineering, space exploration, fuel cell development, air and water purification, and agriculture.
  • Provide at least three examples of real-world applications in use or in development with reliable references.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.

By Wednesday, February 19, 2014, deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox for Turnitin testing and grading.

Compare and contrast the risk perceptions presented in each article.

Environmental Risk Perception Paper        Resource: Ch. 2 of Environmental Psychology, University Library, and peer-reviewed journals Select an environmental risk, such as climate change, and research two articles from peer-reviewed journals that have different perceptions of the level of risk (i.e., low, high).

Prepare a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper based on your chosen articles. Provide a summary of each article. Compare and contrast the risk perceptions presented in each article. Identify any environmental stressors that are related to the environmental risk. Conclude with a discussion of your own risk perception of the issue. Explain your stance and be sure to cite appropriate sources. This should not be strictly based on your opinion.
