You have been given the opportunity to examine the resilience theory  as well as explore different crises and see how individuals, families,  and groups experience resilience when faced with these different  situations. In this Assignment, you will analyze how constructs of the  resilience theory are used to promote resilience in specific crisis  situations.

Please respond to the following:

  • Analyze resilience theory by explaining salient points of this theoretical construct.
  • Using the different crises from your textbook (Chapters 10-14),  choose one crisis and identify potential risk factors that could impede  upon a family’s ability to be resilient if faced with this particular  crisis.
  • Using the same crisis from above, discuss strategies a human  services professional could use for this particular crisis that would  promote resilience within the family, individual, or group.
  • In this final part, you need to analyze how the strategies used to  promote resiliency are reflective of at least one construct of the  resilience theory. (Example: pacing reorganization of a family after the  death of a loved one is reflective of the process-oriented perspective  (interaction of individual with environment) of the resilience theory)

Openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism are all personality traits that an individual might possess. Understanding one’s personality is important, because it not only affects an individual’s disposition but also his or her overall well-being. Personality also has major impact on world view and the ways in which people deal with discrete and chronic life-stressors.

How might your personality be manifested in your present life? Furthermore, how might your personality traits be working for (or against) you in avenues such as career, friendships, and personal relationships? For this Assignment, you take the Five Factor Personality Test (FFPT), located in this week’s Learning Resources, to better identify your personality traits. You will then reflect on your life and self-identity to determine whether you believe your results to be accurate.

Effective clinical innovations and the dissemination of research findings are key elements in the growth and development of the psychology profession. There are numerous avenues that enable authors to publish and present their work. Poster presentations at conferences are effective methods for communicating research findings and providing opportunities to meet with other researchers and clinicians to discuss the research being presented. Thus, these types of conference presentations play a key role in the proliferation of research.

In this week’s discussion, you will be submitting your proposal for the Week Five Virtual Conference. You may utilize relevant assignments from previous courses in this program or suitable projects from your professional life. See the PSY699 Call for Student Poster Presentations document for specific parameters and instructions on how to create your proposal. Following the guidelines presented in the document, create your proposal and attach it to your initial post in the discussion forum. Evaluate the impact participating in conference presentations may have on potential work settings and/or doctoral programs and comment on the following questions in your initial post.
