discuss at least 2 guidelines that were violated and how. Describe how violating these guidelines was or could have been harmful to participants.

As you have learned throughout your courses, adherence to ethical principles is paramount in the field of psychology. However, many psychological experiments of the past would not be allowed under today’s standards.

Choose an influential experiment in the field of psychology that violated present-day ethical guidelines. The following website (Mental Floss, 2012) may be useful in choosing a study, but you may also choose one that is not listed there: http://mentalfloss.com/article/52787/10-famous-psychological-experiments-could-never-happen-today.

Follow the Rubric attached.

Briefly describe the study. Then, taking into consideration the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (American Psychological Association, 2002), discuss at least 2 guidelines that were violated and how. Describe how violating these guidelines was or could have been harmful to participants.

Given your knowledge of ethical guidelines, re-design the experiment you chose so the same hypothesis could be addressed in an ethical research study.

In all sections of your Assignment, particular attention should be paid to the General Principles (http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index.aspx?item=3) and standards for research (http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index.aspx?item=11) in the ethical code. Some concentration areas also have their own ethical code, and this should be referred to as well.

Addictions: http://www.naadac.org/code-of-ethics

Behavior Analysis: http://www.bacb.com/index.php?page=57

Industrial/Organizational concentration refer to the APA code above.

Your paper should be 3–4 pages, not including the title page and reference page. It should include an introduction and conclusion, and you must use at least 3 academic references to support your ideas. References must be in APA format, including in-text citations and a reference list.

Identify one technique/strategy that you could use to address a concern of a client who identifies as African, Asian, Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.

In this module, you learned about African, Asian, Hawaiian, and Pacific Island cultures. You learned about cultural values that are prominent in these cultures and about the impact that history has had on these cultures. In addition, you reviewed the impact of historical events that contribute to oppression and discrimination of said populations.

Tasks:

In a minimum of 200 words, post to the Discussion Area your responses to the following:

  • Identify and discuss one historical event that has contributed to the oppression and discrimination of said populations.
  • Identify two of the populations’ cultural values and analyze the way they may impact the counseling dynamic.
  • Identify one technique/strategy that you could use to address a concern of a client who identifies as African, Asian, Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.
  • Explain why you chose that technique/strategy.
  • Use specific examples and consider the impact of intercultural differences.
  • Consider the institutional and social barriers that impact this population when choosing your technique. Support your use of this technique with appropriate literature.
  • Identify at least one way that counselors can advocate for the populations discussed in this module.

Support your rationale and analysis by using at least two resources from professional literature in your response. Professional literature may include the Argosy University online library resources, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (websites ending in .edu or .gov).

Your discussion posts and all written assignments should reflect graduate-level writing skills and appropriate use of APA style, including in-text citations and references.

Submission Details:

Explain how you might develop rapport with the client and promote engagement in the counseling process.

Please no plagiarism and make sure you are able to access all resource on your own before you bid. One of the references must come from Broderick and Blewitt (2015).

Young Adulthood

High school graduation, college admissions, and moving away from home. These are among the stepping-stones that mark the transition from adolescence to adulthood. For some people, this transition can be an awkward one. During this transition, they may find themselves wanting freedom to pursue academic and career interests outside of the home, while at the same time continuing to rely on parents or caregivers for financial and emotional support. During this time, some parents might project their own hopes and dreams onto their children, coming to believe that they aren’t living up to family expectations. Likewise, a young adult might be ready to leave the family and become independent but may be incapable of doing so due to internal anxieties and fear of the unknown.

As a counselor, how might you support both a young adult and his or her parents/caregivers during this fragile time?

For this Discussion, review this week’s media, “Young Adulthood,” focusing on the presenting issues of the highlighted family member, aged 19–29. Keeping these issues in mind, select one of the following theoretical models to use as a lens for your Discussion post:

· Schaie’s Theory

· Perry’s Theory of Intellectual and Ethical Development

· Kitchner’s Model of the Development of Reflective Judgment

· Holland’s Theory of Personality-Environment Types

· Super’s Developmental Approach

Note: Identify the last name of your assigned client family in the title of your post.

Post by Day 4 a description of the client’s developmental level. Explain how you might develop rapport with the client and promote engagement in the counseling process. Briefly describe the counseling approach you might use with this client, based on the theoretical model you have selected. Justify your response with references to this week’s Learning Resources and the current literature. Be specific.

Summary of source three (1-2 paragraphs) – in this section you will summarize the information from your third article. Your summary should be detailed enough so that the reader has a good basic understanding of the article, even if they have not read it.

The purpose of this assignment is to discover more about mental health topics /disorders. You will choose a topic to research, then find 3 sources to learn about the topic. One of the sources may be your book, and at least one of the other sources should be from a scholarly peer-reviewed psychology related journal. Your paper should be in APA format, so must include in-text citations and a full reference page.  You are NOT required to write an abstract for this paper.

This assignment is worth 75 points

Format your paper in the following way:

Introduction (1-2 paragraphs) – this is where you introduce your topic. If you have chosen to write about a mental health diagnosis, this is where you will describe the disorder, its symptoms, and its treatment. If you are writing about a mental health topic, such as how social media affects anxiety in teenagers, for example, you would provide a detailed summary of the topic. It is also appropriate to discuss why this topic is of interest to you in this section.

Summary of source one (1-2 paragraphs) – in this section you will summarize the information from your first article. Your summary should be detailed enough so that the reader has a good basic understanding of the article, even if they have not read it.

Summary of source two (1-2 paragraphs) – in this section you will summarize the information from your second article. Your summary should be detailed enough so that the reader has a good basic understanding of the article, even if they have not read it.

Summary of source three (1-2 paragraphs) – in this section you will summarize the information from your third article. Your summary should be detailed enough so that the reader has a good basic understanding of the article, even if they have not read it.

Synthesis / Discussion of results (2-3 paragraphs) – this is the longest section of the paper. In this section you will be synthesizing or combining the information you have gotten from all three of your sources. This section will likely include your comparing and contrasting the information from your sources. For example, source one might indicate that any amount of social media use contributes to anxiety in teens while source two states limited social media use does not have any impact on anxiety, and source three might report that social media use combined with parental monitoring prevents anxiety. In this example, you would discuss those seemingly different pieces of information.

Summary (1 paragraph) – in this section, you will wrap up your paper.
