In his writing in the Virginia statute for religious freedom, Jefferson made statement about the freedom of conscience and the Principe of separation between the state and the church. The Virginia religious freedom statue was rooted in Jefferson philosophy. The statute was passed by Virginia general assembly in January 1786. It is among the first amendment that sort to protect the freedom of religion.

The first paragraph of the statute proclaimed freedom of thought. According to Jefferson, the nature God gives a man the freedom to choose his religious belief. Jefferson argues that since the God has given the man freedom of thought – to believe or not to believe- there should be no law that compels a man to follow any religion. Individuals are free to worship as they please with no discrimination.

Jefferson wanted the assembly to enact that individuals should not be forced be to support any religious worship, or enforced, restrained in their bodies and/or goods or suffers due to their religious opinion or belief. Moreover, all individual are free to profess and by argument maintain their opinion on religious matter. Their opinion on matters of religion should not affect in any way their civil capacities.

The two clauses seem to uphold the view of the Jefferson. The establishment clause prevents the state from influencing any religious opinion on its citizen. The free exercise clause, protects the citizens right to practice their religion as they please.

This was the exact weakness of the organization because measures were not put in place by previous managers to ensure that employees stayed at the post until as long as their services were needed. The absence of employee retention, a situation known as employee turnover occurs. In the view of Clint (2011), “Employee turnover occurs when employees voluntarily leave their jobs and must be replaced.” To this effect, my services were employed to take charge of the recruitment of the organization for the year 2010 to ensure through my duty that employees were retained.

The need to have someone playing the role of a recruitment manager as an attempt to ensure employee retention was in the right direction because one of the factors that have been identified to be the cause of employee turnover is poor recruitment. Explaining what recruitment is, Stevens (2010) assert that “Recruitment is the process of having the right person, in the right place, at the right time.” It is, therefore, logical to assume that if the right people are not put in the right place, they would surely leave. In this direction, The Missouri Business Journal (2011) advice that in recruitment, it is always important to hire “the people that are a good “fit” with the culture of the organization — meaning that their values, principles, and goals clearly match those of the company”. Most often than not, managers loss site of their role in using recruitment to ensure the long term. I was therefore called upon to play this all-important role of a manager in charge of recruitment.

The two detectives are the older, more seasoned Lee and the younger Bucky, who has been nicknamed as “Fire” and “Ice” respectively, because of their emotional response styles. While Lee gets involved in another case where an old enemy is about to get paroled, the primary investigation of the young woman’s murder falls on Bucky. The detective takes a fancy to the young murdered woman and becomes obsessed with solving the case and finding out who murdered her.

In the search for clues, he arrives at a lesbian bar where he meets Madeleine Linscott, a spoilt rich woman who also turns out to be bisexual. This also provides him his ticket into the circles of the rich in Hollywood where he discovers a den of filth, corruption, and crime. In his attempts to solve the mystery, Bucky only falls deeper into this corrupt world, where his own morals are tested.

Brian DePalma’s films abound in “highly improbable plots and characters.” (Hirschberg 79) and this appears to be a reasonable observation in the case of films such as “Blow Out” and “Body Double” for example, where the principles of irony and a general imperviousness to realism appear to predominate. This may also be applicable in the case of the film “Black Dahlia”, where the audience is presented with several improbable characters, notably the bisexual character of Hilary Swank who is presumably a look-alike for the murdered girl. Another character that appears to be almost a caricature is the character played by Fiona Shaw.

The knowledge that an individual has is a sum of the two in addition to others that shall be discussed in the essay. In our daily lives, we encounter different situations which add knowledge to our lives, some are evidence-based but they neither qualify to be totally active or passive and so by looking at the philosophical approach of knowledge we shall be able to raise an argument to show that in some cases this can apply but in other circumstances, it would not be true.

To support our argument and establish the source and production of knowledge in our lives we shall look at the theories of knowledge and what has been developed in the past to explain it. This will be used to support my claim is partially supporting the statement given in the question. James Frederick Ferrier is the philosopher who came up with the theory of knowledge popularly known as epistemology. In his argument knowledge helps us to have beliefs which we can justify and others which we cannot justify. In the argument he argues that the beliefs which we have which can be termed as a result of the knowledge that we have acquired is a result of the situations that we have been through or the things that we have experienced in our lives (Theory of Knowledge).

Plato in his argument defines knowledge as a true belief that has been defined or explained in the past. In our lives whether we participate or stay passive, we still end up knowing new things. This is because our minds are actively thinking and linking the things that we have seen to come up with new explanations on how things happen. In many circumstances we do not need to get full explanations on certain issues. All we need is to be introduced to certain concepts then using our past experiences we can compare or try to come up with solutions that closely fit the situation (Russel, 1926). This therefore means that the knowledge we get is not entirely based on our active or passive learning as purported by the question.
