Permanent citizens of the United States have a right to vote. This right extends to the point of perceiving their vote impacts in the entire community. This is because voting entails the techniques of expressing ideas, making decisions, and claiming the benefits of citizens in the United States. Therefore, it is right to show that voting right is the personal responsibility of all citizens. They also have social obligations to consider how their votes can affect the various interests of the community, thereby proving how essential people’s duties and benefits are in the society.

Voting entails collecting each idea from different individuals, deciding or finalizing on one idea. The number of individual votes is thus essential in every race. For instance, Abraham Lincoln was quoted while illustrating that a ballot is much stronger than a bullet. This statement shows the necessity of participating in the voting exercise. In modern days in which democracy has been appreciated in society, voting is one of the essential duties of every citizen in any democratic nation. Casting votes, therefore, entails both social and personal responsibilities.

I believe that it is essential to cast votes because it is one way of sharing people’s voices democratically. Even a single vote count in the democracy where society or group representatives are elected by the public or members of specific communities and groups. In cases where an individual is not interested in any of the representative parties, he or she can vote on an empty ballot. This way, the person who is not interested in all contestants gets a chance to express his or her feeling about dissatisfaction with the contestants instead of failing to vote at all (Gerber, Huber, Doherty, & Dowling, 2014, p. 241).

Similarly, I believe it is an essential responsibility of citizens to vote because governments can be shaped through voting. For instance, when a potentially good leader loses by a single vote, then the whole government system might be jeopardized because the wrong person will have to win the election and fail to govern operations adequately. Since our forefathers fought for the freedom of the nation and its citizens, voting is a tool, therefore, which can be used to liberate people from modern day challenges such as poor governance and abuse of official power. It is thus the responsibility of citizens to choose leaders who can adequately drive the nation forward in development, management, and national protection.

Additionally, voters have the social responsibility to consider how their votes would impact various interests in the entire society. Even though every individual have distinct preferences during the election, they have to consider the social responsibility of voting because when every community member chooses different paths of preferences, then the unity of the entire community might be jeopardized as well. This can lead to the disintegration of democracy and trigger conflicts.

Therefore, since the future of democracy and leadership depends on the kind of representatives which voters sent in offices, it is equally essential to determine the type of person obligated with the representative duties. For instance, if voters sent a person who considers his or her interests in the offices, then the desires of the rest of the community might be ignored.

In conclusion, therefore, it is right to show that every member of the community should practice voting rights because it enables people to elect out selfish leaders. However, due to diversity in personal interests in a given population, it also crucial for the voter to consider the overall benefits of the community for voting process rather than considering their preferences (Jensen & Lin, 2016, p. 157).
