concert report 1 1
Concert Attendance Requirements
Attendance and written review of a minimum of three concerts is required for this course. A maximum of 100 points per review are available. 25 bonus points will be available for extra credit if you attend one additional concert (maximum of four total reports). Reports must be written and submitted no later than two weeks following the attendance of the concert. Reports must submitted via the Canvas interface, or uploaded from an appropriately styles .doc or .pdf file type. Additionally, you will need to provide a proof of attendance in the form of a photograph or scan of either the ticket stub or the concert program. These can be submitted through the Canvas interface with your paper, or alternately you may email them to me direct.
What should I do to prepare?
Knowledge
Most important: know something about what you are going to see and hear! Read about the artist and genre before you attend the concert. For example, if you are going to hear a “violin concerto”, make sure you know what a violin concerto is before you go to the concert!
Save your time - order a paper!
Get your paper written from scratch within the tight deadline. Our service is a reliable solution to all your troubles. Place an order on any task and we will take care of it. You won’t have to worry about the quality and deadlines
Order Paper NowTickets
You may need to pre-purchase your tickets, or allow enough time to purchase the tickets at the venue. Be sure to ask for “student discount” tickets, and look for free concerts as well. There are many opportunities out there to see great music at a great price!
Where to sit?
I always suggest sitting in the middle of the hall and/or on the balcony level, as this will give you the best audio and visual experience possible.
What should I wear?
This is a question that is often asked, and the answer has many parts. Know a little bit about the venue, and know your comfort level. If you are going to a symphony orchestra concert at a concert hall, you may want to put on pants and a shirt, or a modest dress for the ladies. Must you dress up? Not at all – however, be prepared to get a reaction if you choose to “make a statement” with your clothing. Be comfortable, but classy!
What types of concerts are acceptable?
I want to make sure you have the best possible musical experience, so I have narrowed down what I consider acceptable for this class. It is important that you experience music that is related to this class, and music that is at least at the semi-professional performance level. Additionally, pop, rock and world music genres do not fit the scope of this class, and therefore will not be acceptable. Some acceptable genres include:
- Symphony Orchestra
- Chamber Ensemble (small group)
- Musical Theater (must utilize live musicians)
- Opera
- Big-band Jazz
- Must be at the college level or above in skill
Some genres to avoid:
- Primary and Secondary school productions
- Pop music concerts
- Non-professional performances (open-mic night, etc)
If you are unsure, just ask!
