The use of social network sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook in recruiting is becoming common amongst hiring managers. An article in HR Magazine UK reported that the vast majority of recruiters (94%) either already use or plan to use social media for recruiting. For instance, Riggio (2013, p.10-15) identified four key trends that are important today and in the future of Industrial and Organizational (I/O) psychology. They include: · the changing nature of work · the expanding focus on human resources · the increasing diversity and globalization of the workforce as well as · the increasing relevance of I/O psychology in policy and practice. Analyze these and/or other important trends in relation to the workplace in the United Kingdom, and examine how companies and their employees can cope and adapt to these trends. (20 marks) When doing your analysis of the above issue, you should consult the psychological literature for relevant material (besides relying on the readings from Riggio). In addition, you are encouraged to draw upon your own working experience e.g., how your company assist its employees to deal with a certain trend in the workplace. When commenting on the key trends affecting companies and employees in the United Kingdom, you should present your findings in a scholarly way. Specifically, your argument should be based on relevant theories/concepts in I/O psychology and supported by empirical evidence. Notes: 1. Please consider Part B as a separate entity from Part A. 2. References to be in APA format. No minimum number of references. 3. Word count should not exceed 250. 4. Not required to submit this as an essay, but as an online discussion post.
