Quantitative Analysis & Excel

Instructions

Attached Excel Student Workbook below:

Read the case study attached below and complete the following requirements.

Quantitative Analysis:

Chandler Corporation is currently producing several products, including both custom and standard designs. It has received requests for two new products: swimming pool shades and landscape trellises. It is considering whether to produce either or both of these products. Based on the projections in Exhibits 1 to 3 describing the current capacity and required capacity needs for the new products, complete the following requirements:

  1. Using ABC, compute the Predetermined Overhead Rate for each activity.
  2. Compute the cost of unused capacity for each activity and in total.
  3. Compute the TOTAL and UNIT cost of making the full demand of pool shades assuming that Chandler bases its rates on the predetermined overhead rate.
  4. Compute the TOTAL and UNIT cost of making the full demand of trelli, assuming that Chandler bases its rates on the predetermined overhead rate.
  5. Compute the TOTAL and UNIT cost of making the full demand of pool shades assuming that Chandler bases its rates on EXPECTED capacity (used capacity plus required capacity for the full demand of pool shades).
  6. Compute the total and unit cost of making the full demand of trellises assuming that Chandler bases its rates on EXPECTED capacity (used capacity plus required capacity for the full demand of trellises).

Qualitative Analysis:

In a 2 page report, based on your quantitative analysis, discuss the results of what your quantitative analysis means for Chandler.  When considering a decision to make the new products, would costs computed using practical capacity (c and d) or expected capacity (e and f) as the denominator provide better information to Chandlers management? Explain your answer.  Support your recommendation with a minimum of 3 academic resources in APA format.

Deliverables

  • Quantitative Analysis (Excel Required): You are required to use the provided Excel workbook to complete the quantitative analysis for this assignment.
  • Qualitative Analysis (Word Required): Prepare a 2-page summary addressing the required qualitative analysis, as noted in the Student Workbook.  Your paper is required to be formatted according to APA requirements.  Be sure to incorporate key concepts from this unit’s readings and properly cite your references according to APA requirements.  Do NOT embed the results of your quantitative analysis in your Word document.  You should only reference parts of your quantitative analysis in your written analysis.  Your written responses to the qualitative prompts should not be presented in a question and answer format.

Delivering a Bad Presentation:-Spot the Mistakes

After watching the video, lets begin this weeks discussion with the following opinion-based question:

1. We have all seen presentations, at work, in college, on the web, or perhaps in your community. What elements do you like to see when you are attending a presentation that would make you consider it a success? What elements would make you consider a presentation unsuccessful?
Now, after completing this weeks readings and viewings, lets continue on with these questions going through each one together:

2. Looking at the video list of mistakes and those you identified together as a group, which mistake(s) do you feel to be a deal-breaker in terms of presenting information, and what suggestions do you have to correct it?

3, Now that we are familiar with what makes a good presentation, are there additional things the presenter could have done better, besides the mistakes listed at the end of this video?

4. This week, you are beginning to develop your presentations, which will be due next week. As you start the process, what are some of the challenges to applying the writing process to developing a visual presentation?

Credibility Discussion Comment

Remember, ethos refers to the credibility of someone making an argument, the likelihood that what they say will be found compelling because of how they present the information, the expertise they have, their reputation, etc.

You should evaluate the ethos of all of your sources. Would you give the same weight to any website on the internet that you would give to an academic, peer-reviewed journal?

Take a look at the following websites and make notes about the credibility of each.

    Reading the Short Story
    All About Explorers
How to Write an Academic Essay
Help Save the Endangered Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus

Once you’ve made your initial notes, review the sites again using the University of Southern Maine’s web resources checklist.

A note about Wikipedia: use to get a general understanding of a topic, but do not rely on as a source!

Return to your notes on the sample websites. Choose two sites and answer the following questions in well-developed, well-supported paragraphs.

Which elements (voice/tone, rhetorical style, visual style, use of reliable sources, etc.) of the two sample websites did you find most compelling? Why? How were the authors able to simulate ethos?
Which elements did you find least compelling? How did you determine site credibility?

Curriculum Maping

1. After viewing The Differences Between Lesson Plans and Curriculum Mapping,” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aur-2lsoWY0 explain the differences and connections between a lesson plan and a curriculum map. Review the two curriculum maps and lesson plans used in the topic assignment. What would you change, if anything, to help them align? Why is the alignment important? (250-300 words and at least 2 references)

2. What style of curriculum mapping do you find most appealing? What style of curriculum mapping do you find most effective for communicating with stakeholders such as parents, administration, district personnel, and students? Explain. (250-300 words and at least 2 references)

3. Review one curriculum map from Topic 1. Does it align with appropriate standards and assessments? (250-300 words and at least 2 references)

4. Are there academic standards that might not appear in the curriculum maps in the Topic 1 assignment? Explain. (250-300 words and at least 2 references)
