Create a PowerPoint presentation with 16 to 20 slides (not including the title and reference slides) entitled Ethical and Professional Issues in Psychological Testing. Your presentation must provide 2 to 3 slides for each of the required topics and include appropriate citations of your referenced sources. Separate reference slides, which follow APA formatting guidelines for a References page, must be included at the end of the presentation. · Analyze and describe issues related to the testing of cultural and linguistic minorities.

Reliability

· Explain the common sources of measurement error and how measurement error can impact reliability.

· Create a diagram or figure to compare the types of validity discussed in the textbook.

· Describe the extravalidity concerns related to testing.

· Review the articles by Fergus (2013), Kosson, et al. (2013) and Mathieu, Hare, Jones, Babiak, & Neumann (2013). Analyze the information presented in these articles on factor analysis and describe how it is used to validate the constructs of the instruments.

Application One: An Ethical and Professional Quandry

· Select one of the Ethical and Professional Quandries in Testing from Case Exhibit 1.2 in your textbook and describe the ethical issues specific to the scenario you selected. Include an analysis of the relevant principles from Standard 9 in the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct 

· Taking on the role of the psychologist or counselor in the chosen scenario, describe how you might respond to the challenge you selected and provide a brief rationale for your decision.

Application Two: Evidence-Based Medicine

· Summarize Youngstrom’s (2013) recommendations for linking assessment directly to clinical decision making in evidence-based medicine.

· Elaborate on each of Youngstrom’s recommendations by providing practical examples that illustrate the relevance of the recommendations in a clinical setting.

Application Three: Selecting Valid Instruments

Plagiarism is often thought of only in the context of academic institutions, but there are many reported situations outside of the classroom where individuals use ideas from other people without giving proper credit. While in school, the consequences may be reflected in a student’s grade. Outside of school, the consequences may tarnish a professional’s reputation and potentially bring legal action. The Learning Activities included resources to help you avoid plagiarism, and this Discussion will give you an opportunity to practice those skills. Find a reliable secondary source related to your argument for change in your community or workplace. Then, choose a short passage that verifies or disputes your position. Respond to the following prompts in at least two well-developed paragraphs (not including the copied-and-pasted material from your secondary source):

  • Describe the source you found, the process you used to find it, and why you selected it. What makes this a reliable source? Does it support or refute your argument?
  • Paraphrase relevant information from a short passage in the source you found. Be sure to use in-text citations with any sentences paraphrasing ideas from the source, e.g., (Doe, 2013) or According to Jane Doe (2013).
  • At the end of your post, provide a complete APA 6th Edition style references page citation for the source you found and copy/paste the original text that you paraphrased. Be sure to label clearly the part that is copied (e.g., original).

To earn full participation credit, you will need to respond substantively to at least two peers’ initial Discussion posts and show active engagement in the discussion as described in the grading rubric. New York City Data Analysis

A consulting firm was hired to perform a survey on people living in New York City. The survey was completed monthly for six months by 445 randomly-selected people in different boroughs. There were a number of items on the survey, but six basic biographical items will be studied for this exercise. The data for the people surveyed in one of these monthly surveys can be found in the Excel file SURVEY. The variables that were used for the basic biographical data are found on the last page of the exercise.In this exercise, some of the estimation techniques presented in the module will be applied to the New York survey results. You may assume that these respondents represent a simple random sample of all potential respondents within the community, and that the population is large enough that application of the finite population correction would not make an appreciable difference in the results.

New York City governmental agency personnel like to have point estimates regarding variables describing the biographical information of the people living within the different boroughs. It is very helpful for them to have some idea regarding the likely accuracy of these estimates as well. Therein lies the benefit of the techniques presented in this module and applied here.

  1. Item A in the description of the data collection instrument lists variables 1–5, which represent the respondent’s general attitude toward each of the five boroughs. Each of these variables has numerically equal distances between the possible responses, and for purposes of analysis they may be considered to be of the interval scale of measurement.
    1. Determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for μ1 = the average attitude toward Manhattan.
    2. Repeat part (a) for μ2 through μ5, the average attitudes toward Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island, respectively.
  2. Given the breakdown of responses for variable 6 (highest level of education), determine the point estimate, then construct the 95% confidence interval for p6 = the population proportion of doctoral degrees.
  3. Given the breakdown of responses for variable 7 (marital status of respondent), determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for p7 = the population proportion in the “single or other” category.
  4. Assume the governmental agencies requested estimates of the mean attitudes towards each borough with a margin of error of 0.05 for each borough. If the governmental agency personnel want to have 95% confidence that the sample mean will fall within this margin of error, how large should the sample sizes be for each borough?
