Explain how these characteristics will ultimately influence the child’s success in school.

The Final Project will demonstrate an understanding of the reading assignments and research in the field of Behavior and Family Dynamics. The Final Project represents 20% of the overall course grade.

Parenting Presentation

Parents often wish that a parenting manual came with their child. Your summative assignment is to develop a PowerPoint presentation designed as a comprehensive summary of the course. The presentation will demonstrate an understanding of philosophies, theories, and concepts learned and how they apply to family relationships. In a 12- to 14-slide PowerPoint presentation (not including the title, purpose, and reference slides) you will create a presentation to share with parents. The Final Project represents 20% of the overall course grade.

Focus of Final Project:

Create a PowerPoint Presentation for your early childhood education center to share with new parents. The presentation must include the following:

1.  Title slide

2.  Purpose (Objective) statement slide detailing the importance of positive parenting.

3.  APA style Reference slide with at least three scholarly sources and the course text. Format your presentation according to APA as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

In addition, include 12 to 14 slides that address the following:

1.  (Chapter One) List and explain three positive characteristics of mothering and/or fathering. Explain how these characteristics will ultimately influence the child’s success in school.

2.  (Chapter Two) Choose two common toddler actions (suggestions: temper tantrums, “me do it,” potty training) and explain effective strategies to minimize the undesirable behavior. Explain to parents how positive expectations can lessen the need for discipline.

3.  (Chapter Three) Explain how parents can help their adolescents deal with the common issue of bullying.

4.  (Chapter Four) Explain the difference between limited caretaking and involuntary caretaking in terms of the role of grandparents. Describe the positive effects this relationship has on the grandchild. Explain how parents can include grandparents as influences in their child’s life.

5.  (Chapter Five) Choose one of the following parenting models and explain why it is an appropriate choice: National Extension Parent Education Model, Partners for Fragile Families, and Growing Together. Support your choice with evidence from the text or scholarly sources.

6.  (Chapter Six) Explain poverty and how it impacts both parents and children. Describe to parents how you will support their child in the classroom. Offer at least two outside resources to support your families.

7.  (Chapter Seven) List two negative effects of divorce and give parents examples of how they can counteract the negativity and support their children.

8.  (Chapter Eight) Choose two of the “Ten Strategies for Family, Parenting, and Work Balance” and use these two points to explain how a balanced life will enhance the lives of their children.

9.  (Chapter Nine) Choose and explain one high-risk factor and how this factor negatively affects the child. Explain how parents can support their children. Specifically illustrate how parents/educators can assist a child with unpredictable behavior at home or in the classroom.

10. (Chapter Ten) Choose and explain one disability and explain specific ways for parents to support this child. Describe to parents how you will include the child in all classroom activities and how you will educate their peers to be inclusive as well.

11. (Chapter Eleven) Explain at least three suggestions for support for your parents of adopted children. At least one suggestion must be a children’s book and an explanation of why you chose this book.

12. (Chapter Twelve) Explain the positive effects of a quality childcare program. Convince these parents that your program is the ideal childcare program for their child.

13. Conclusion slide which includes a restatement of the opening thesis statement and how you will support the children while they are members of your classroom. Explain to parents that your classroom is tolerant, supportive, and encouraging to all families.

Students should creatively address the material including graphics, visuals, charts, graphs, and/or sound. Slides should be designed to clearly and concisely address the material. The PowerPoint presentation must be formatted according to APA style; include the title and reference slides and cite within slides when appropriate. The notes section of the PowerPoint must be utilized to expand on the students’ presented points. The notes section should also include any additional information necessary to explain or show the students’ point of view. Students must use at least three scholarly sources and the course text. The final summative assignment will contribute to 20% of the course grade.

Define the lead, lag, and match strategy for capacity planning.

In your role as the memory chip company’s production planning staff member, one of your tasks is to help the supply chain team focus on capacity planning. One of the key production plants in the supply chain currently uses a lead capacity strategy in which they make enough chips to offset demand, even when this means excess inventory levels at times.

Using course materials and other research, complete the following:

  • Define the lead, lag, and match strategy for capacity planning.
  • Recommend a better strategy for the the company’s production strategy, outlining the advantages of your proposal. Be sure to provide a mathematical basis for your recommendation. Should it change from the lead strategy or not?

Please have references inside the sentences and at the end of document.  No plagarism.  At least 8 paragraphs.  Answer each question in depth.

Research can vary from highly sophisticated experimental studies to less rigorous short term investigations. Each research approach has advantages and disadvantages

Research can vary from highly sophisticated experimental studies to less rigorous short term investigations. Each research approach has advantages and disadvantages.  Among the different paradigms you could use, two of the more common are the “positivist approach” and the “interpretive approach” (consult pages 39-40 in the text).  If you were interested in determining if the Canadian National Health Plan was “better” (better in terms of care, coverage, and choice of doctors) then the current United States Health Coverage Plan (Obama sponsored), which approach would you choose to make this determination?  Provide a justification to your answer.  Remember, your decision is about the research paradigm, and the subject focus (health care plans) provides the context.  Select the responses of two classmates, comparing the position you take and the justification. If you agree in terms of the position, discuss any differences of opinion in terms of the justification.

The most challenging aspect of this observation.

In Week One of this course, you were asked to find a child to observe.  For this assignment, you will observe the child using the requirements below and summarize your observation.  This can be done in one sitting, or it can be done in two since you will be conducting two different observations.  Two is preferable for accuracy of assessment.
For the observation you will need to:

    1. Be sure you have the permission of the child’s parent.
    2. Exclude any identifying information for this child (e.g., last name)
    3. Follow the guidelines on pages 141-144 of the course text regarding behaviors during the visit (ethical conduct, avoiding personal bias, etc.).
    4. Be sure you have the appropriate materials ready:
      • You will need either a Running Record Form or an Anectodal Record Form, whichever you choose.  For this form, you will choose one developmental domain to observe (e.g., cognitive, physical, motor, or language).
      • You will need either a Time Sampling Form or an Event Sampling Form, whichever you choose.  For this form, you will choose one developmental domain to observe (e.g., cognitive, physical, motor, or language).
      • Example: Assessing “Bobby,” I would first observe his motor development using an anecdotal record form.  In a different sitting, I would observe his cognitive development using an event sampling form.

For the assignment, you will need to include:

    1. A title page.
    2. A copy of the completed Running Record Form or Anecdotal Record Form (remember this should address one domain).
    3. A copy of the completed Time-Sampling Form or Event Sampling Form (this should address a different domain).
    4. A one page summary of the observation(s).  In this summary, include:
      • How you felt the observation went and why.
      • How receptive you feel the child was and why you feel that way (if using one of the video options state the reaction of the child upon being videotaped as you see it).
      • The most challenging aspect of this observation.
      • The most enjoyable aspect of this observation.
      • What you learned from this experience.
      • What you would change next time.
    5. A one-page paper providing some developmentally appropriate activities you might implement for this child in the classroom or daycare center to foster growth in each of the developmental domains you observed, and why those activities are a good fit for this child.

Your two-page paper should be in proper 6th edition APA format.  Remember to submit two written pages, both observation forms, and your title page in one document.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
