The purpose of this assignment is to convert your business issue into research question
to solve a particular issue within your business utilizing the knowledge gained over the
three weeks of your study in this unit.
In this assignment, you will use a literature review and/or secondary research to identify
an issue in a business or organisation and develop a research proposal to investigate
that issue
The core element of this assignment is also to prepare you for writing a whole research
project as in Assignment (A3A and A3B).
It is advisable to discuss your ideas with your lecturer/tutor during the workshops and in
particular during the three weeks prior to your submission of the assignment in week 4.
Content and Structure:
The proposal should be at least 1000 words in length (include page numbers
please!) and should have a well thought title and contain effective visual rhetoric as
appropriate. It should be a traditional, linear Word document, although it must be divided
into sections with the following subleaders:
? Background of the idea: describe briefly the overview of the industry that the
business or organisation operates in.
? Significance: Explain why you would like to research your particular research
topic within that business or organization.
? Scope: Explain the scope of your proposed research i.e. geographical,
temporal, demographics, time frame, etc.
