Assignment Assistive Technology Considerations
Assistive technology (AT) offers many ways to support individuals with language impairments in a variety of settings. Special education services may include identifying assistive technology supports, involving assessment, collaboration, and recommendations of available technology tools and supplies. Educators frequently need to request materials and complete requisitions for materials and assistive technology supplies. It is important to understand how to justify AT use and locate vendors that provide them.
Using information from the “Assistive Technology Consideration Resource Guide” section of this week’s Assistive Technology (AT): AZ-Tech reading and your own independent research, choose a sample task for each of the following subject areas:
- Reading,
- Writing,
- Listening; and
- Oral Communication Development.
Using the “Assistive Technology Considerations Template,” record your chosen sample task for each subject area.
