Answer the following five questions.
1.    Explain the terms checks and balances and separation of powers in your own words. DO NOT copy and paste from the textbook. Do not use Google. Explain to me in your own words what these two terms mean. After you explain what each means, explain how they differ and provide two examples that illustrate and demonstrate these two concepts.
2.    Federalism in the United States has undergone changes since the ratification of the Constitution. Concisely and briefly (using complete sentences), discuss how federalism has changed over time and why these changes have occurred. In your opinion, have these changes improved our system of government? Why/why not?
3.    What are the key differences (discuss at least four differences) between the House of Representatives and the Senate? Be specific. How do these differences affect how Congress operates? Be specific – provide examples where relevant.
4.    Discuss the powers of the Presidency and how they have evolved since the founding of the United States. Some of these powers developed as the office developed, others are enumerated in the Constitution. Which powers do you think are the most beneficial to our political system and which are detrimental? Be sure to explain your reasoning.
5.    In what ways do the legislative and executive branches of the federal government influence, impact, and check the power of the Courts? Which “check and balance,” do you think, has the most effect and impact on the Courts and which has a lesser effect?
