In this paper, I will focus on the cultural perspective on how an athlete has been confronted with struggles around race and ethnicity. The athlete I will focus on is Colin Kaepernick. The event that happened in 2016 left a mark on everyone, simply because it sent a great message about racial injustice and police brutality to the world.

This article focused on the relationship between sports and social inequalities, and put an emphasis on gender, nation and race. The article was focused on research, and the whole point of it was to try to show that inequality is present in sports, even though it is supposed to be eliminated. There is research about each part of the research, gender inequality, how men and women are seen different when it comes to sports, and how much more research there is about masculinity in sports, compared to femininity. When it comes to race, there is all types of research. There have been ideologies that have been relating the ability to play sports with genetics. And when it comes to nations, the article focuses on the inequality between teams that come from different countries, with different backgrounds, playing with one another.

This article focuses on the incident that happened with Colin Kapernick in 2016, when he decided to take a stand against the racial inequality in America. This got a lot of media attention back then when this happened, and it brought people together for a good cause. This article also showed that Colin Kapernick did not get any benefits from this, but only got punished, and that just showed the whole world how real and evident racial injustice is.

It also focuses on the media coverage that this whole movement got, and which media or what sources were the ones speaking about the principle of this whole movement to the public. Last but not least, the article brought a question to the public, as to whether this whole movement deepened discussions of police brutality or racial inequality against African Americans.

This paper focuses on the Marxist perspective in analyzing racial injustices in the United States. It speaks on the difference between the rich class, or dominant class, which was the one that legitimized the oppression and also racism.
