Animal Rights Laws

I need to write a paper on the history of animal rights laws. I have attached an outline below. I want to connect animal rights laws through the years with a growing public awareness. I need to be sure to distinguish which laws are American and which are British. More in depth of what each law covers. Are the laws actually helping? what caused laws (are there certain legal cases)? Do I feel that animals have a moral status that is accepted or satisfied by the laws we have today or do they require refinement?
