Aligned Learning Activities and Differentiation

Aligning learning objectives to instruction is an important element of the planning process. Additionally, there will be a diverse population of students to be considered in this process. Differentiating instruction means instructing diverse students in different ways to increase their likelihood of success.

For this assignment, use the state learning standard and learning objective chosen in Topic 2, as well as the “Class Profile,” to complete the “Aligned Learning Activities and Differentiation” template. This is the standard that YOU chose for part two of that assignment, not the one from the example lesson plan. Look back to the example template and ABCD Objective Resources in week 2 to make sure your objective is properly written. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO USE THE ABCD MODEL AND IT MUST BE MEASURABLE. Example: The students will be able to _(measurable verb) _(standard related activity)_ with _(degree of expectation if not 100%)_.” Please feel free to individual forum me your standard and objective for a check if you would like.

Include the following on the template:

1. Plan and explain an aligned learning activity for the “Class Profile.” This is the activity that you will be doing with the entire class. This will be the same for each child.

2. Choose three students from the “Class Profile” that require differentiation. Explain how you will differentiate the learning activity to meet each students’ individual needs. Choose three students by name and alter the activity to meet their needs according to the information in the profile. Be sure to justify your reasoning!!

3. Include an appropriate home extension activity for each of the selected students. These will be different for each child based on their needs.

Support your findings with 2-3 resources. Much of this assignment is your own work. Justify your decision making with resources.
