Think back to a time you successfully used language to influence another person or group of people. “Influence,” in this case, means trying to teach them about something; or change their beliefs, attitudes, feelings, values, and/or behavior.

Write an essay in which you:

describe the situation.  This description should be detailed enough that readers feel they can get a sense of the people and places involved in the situation, the time of year, and what you and any other people involved did.

reflect on what made this situation a success.  What choices did you make which led to the outcome you wanted?  What about the situation made your work easier?  What obstacles did you have to overcome, and how did you overcome them?
