discussion question: Porter’s Five Forces framework examines the messy conditions in an industry in some structural format. Porter introduces 5 industry forces that influence a firm’s profitability. But, instead of focusing on the forces themselves, one ought to examine the underlying drivers or elements of the forces. For example, when trying to assess the threat of substitute products/services, the underlying drivers would be the substitute’s quality/performance, durability/reliability, and availability/convenience for the price charged. If we compare these four factors of the substitute with that of our own product/service, we will have a good measure of whether the threat of substitute is high, medium, or low. The textbook offers ample cues to identify the underlying drivers of the five forces. I have already provided you with a head start for one of the forces (i.e., threat of substitute). Please write on two of the five forces to complete your post.
