Final Object

Final Paper (20%), essay of minimum 1500 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography) centered on one object including description (material, production, function), providing socio- historical context of reference, interpretations (analyze its meanings and reflect on its position/status within the cultural context of reference, discuss whether the chosen object raises any questions on the current knowledge); provide references to other relevant objects (include images). Alternatively, the essay can focus on one question pertinent to Chinese art history and which could be related to one of the following:
Identify and discuss innovation in painting or ceramic with a focus on a specific period
Identify and discuss the socio-political and/or gender dimension of Chinese art with
focus on selected objects
You should use at least 6 reliable academic sources and follow an agreed academic apparatus.
