A Moscow newspaper with a good culture section:

    http://www.themoscowtimes.com/arts_n_ideas/index.html

This is the best description of Russian culture by a Russian woman. This site really is a dating/marriage service, but the frank descriptions this woman put into her section about the Russians is truly remarkable. I have not found a better description in ten years of teaching this course. Of course, I am not advocating or encouraging the service.

An old standby from the Soviet days:

    http://russianlife.com/archive/

This is a quirky site with incredible photography of Russia new and old. One warning: this is a European site and does not subscribe to the censorship of American media.
