Week 4 Introduction Professionals in psychology work in a variety of subfields including health psychology, social psychology and counseling psychology. Individuals trained in health psychology will work with an entirely different population than those trained as social or industrial/occupational psychologists. The nature of their work as well as that of their colleagues and specific areas of specialty can also vary by subfield. Psychology is certainly a field that offers myriad possibilities for psychologists, therapists and counselors. Each area is exciting and has unique considerations and challenges.
Week Four Learning Outcomes
1. Identify the differences in the Code of Ethics followed by clinical psychologists and counseling psychologists.
2. Describe the roles of an industrial psychologist and a health psychologist and how they differ from that of a clinical psychologist.
3. Evaluate the role of a health psychologist and identify the collaborative practices utilized between a clinical psychologist and a health psychologist.
4. Identify the professional credentialing requirements needed to work as a health psychologist or an industrial organizational psychologist.
5. Identify the appropriate professional association for clinical and counseling psychologists as well as their benefits.
