You will write a 4-6 page paper on Patagonia, the outdoor clothing company based in San Diego, California. You will investigate and analyze organizational behavior (OB) issues in real companies.
You will study challenges faced by today’s organizations via academic journals, business publications, expert opinions, and other relevant sources. Based on this research, you will explain the current status of OB concepts in the company, OB challenges faced by each company, possible set of solutions to address these challenges, and their recommended solution(s). Solutions need to be specific, practical, and executable within a framework of limited resources. In addition, you will reflect on your career goals (dream job) and if the company selected aligns.
Paper objectives include:
-To understand applications of OB concepts in the “real world”.
-Understand how similar OB concepts are practiced differently in various organizational settings. -Practice academic and business research approaches.
-Make decisions based on research, analysis, and logic.
-Reflect on the individual OB topics as they apply to your dream organization / job.
The paper/project must include (1-10):
Discuss why you selected this organization and how it aligns with your career goals and/or dream job (5pt).
Give a brief background on the organization and industry (5pt).
Describe the organizational culture of the organization and explain if it aligns with the organizations core values and mission statement. Why or Why not (10pt)
Discuss each of the following and determine if your findings show that the company has created a culture of motivated employees (15 pt):
Companies approach to employee empowerment in decision-making
Employee’s level of engagement and involvement.
Employees’ level of satisfaction with the organization
For the current leader what leadership style do they exhibit as it relates to our OB leadership theories and how do they communicate as it relates to what we learned in class?
Discuss the top 3 OB Challenges faced by the company for future success. Be sure to discuss the challenges in depth with specific using your test and in-class discussion (35pt).

Notes:
· Keep 1-3 relatively brief. I am looking for evidence of your understanding and research capability on 1-3.
· Keep 4 relatively brief. But make sure you are using outside references and citations to determine the companies levels of motivation and your in-class reference and citations to support why. It is important that I see that you understand how to align the OB topics we have discussed with the research on the company.
· Make items 5-6 more in depth and discuss how they extensively apply to course concepts, theories, and/or frameworks; demonstrate a deep—not just surface or superficial—understanding of these applied concepts, theories, and/or frameworks. In 6-7, I am looking for evidence of your analytical, decision-making, and convincing abilities. Making sure you use what we have learned in class.
· Make Items 7-9 more in depth and reflective of how they apply extensively to you, while applying the course concepts, theories, and and/or framework.
