For Simmel, “The use of money enables actors to make quick calculations of respective values.” (p. 248)  For your essay on Simmel, recount a situation in which you or another person made a quick calculation of value and later re-assessed its value.  What was the stated price of the object of interest?  Was there negotiation of the price?  Was the use value equal to or above the exchange value? (Marx).  Did the exchange impact a relationship?  Many of us don’t carry cash these days.  Does the use of plastic shape our sense of value?  Focus on some of these, can’t do them all in one page
