This chapter focuses on acute care and hospital settings. I worked in a prison for three years as an Acute Care and Stabilization Unit Coordinator. My duties were to manage and counseling the mental health inmates in level 4 and 5 (most severe mental illness) and those who attempted suicide in any of the female prisons in Georgia. I was responsible for leading daily rounds with the treatment teams consisting of the Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse, and the Mental Health Correctional Officer. I also worked as a Mobile Assessment Counselor and Supervisor for a psychiatric hospital. I worked on-call providing mental health assessment and evaluations in the hospital Emergency Rooms. If the patient was deemed to need intensive treatment, I would work with psychiatric hospital for placement or if less severe local mental health facilities or agencies. This week I decided to show psychiatric facilities within the prison and hospital setting.
