According to James Chalmers’ Plain Truth, why should the colonies remain loyal to Britain? Consider the degree to which Chalmers sympathizes (or not) to the grievances of his fellow colonists. You may also wish to compare Chalmers’ arguments to that of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense.
