Intersectionality is also a concept that will arise in almost all forms of work, academia, social interaction on micro and macro levels among individuals and group systems. Intersectionality can be defined as the surmounting of multiple identities on to an individual that impacts how they are perceived by others and how they become defined. A black trans woman doesn’t just feel society’s wrath of being black but they also feel oppressed for also being trans, and say if they are poor, they also deal with everything that comes with poverty, like homelessness, thus creating an endless number of obstacles that an individual must work extensively to overcome. We are defined not solely by who we are on the inside but rather imprisoned by social constructs that we are born into. Thus, with so many different issues that citizens can encounter, and this is something that Family Service League is able to deal with because what one program may be insufficient in ability another program can be well versed in and offer intel to the other program or transfer cliental.
