This assignment will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of how to conduct scholarly research and to comment one of the key theoretical models: structural-functional approach, social-conflict approach, or symbolic-interaction approach. Your paper will include the following components: Research Topic In the introduction to your assignment, clearly identify your research topic, thesis and the issues that you have attempted to summarize through your essay. Research Your research will demonstrate that you have done a careful review of what researchers have discovered about the topic and research questions. This section should cite at least four scholarly sources that synthesize the key learnings of what researchers have discovered, and identify gaps that exist in the research on this topic, any contradictory findings, etc. Use APA style when citing your sources. You cannot pass this assignment if you don’t use in-text citation. Significance of Findings To conclude the paper, briefly comment on the importance of the topic and possible avenues for future exploration (e.g., an examination focused on other populations within North America or globally) based on gaps you identified in the research. In addition, you can discuss the implications of the findings, such as how the research can or should impact public policy or even how it should shape your own behavior.
