Examples of trending diets/eating patterns: Keto Diet, The Alkaline Diet, Low-Carb Diet, Eat Like Your Ancestors/Paleo, Gluten-Free Diet, Intermittent Fasting, Dukan Diet, Dubrow Diet, Blood Type Diet, Macrobiotic Diet, or choose another that interests you After you have selected a diet, provide thorough responses to the following questions. Note: final essay should not exceed 750 words. 1. Who created the diet and when did it become popular? Describe why the diet has become popular and how it is promoted (i.e. endorsements by celebrities or “experts”). What does the diet promise to do? 2. Describe the diet’s requirements and how the diet results in weight loss and/or improved health. Compare the diet to recommendations for a healthy eating pattern as outlined in Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020-2025. 3. Is this diet effective? Do you believe this diet is healthy and safe? Why or why not? Cite 2-3 credible sources to support or refute the diet. References must be drawn from reliable sources such as peer-reviewed journals, government and academic web sites, and high quality news outlets.
