For my discussion i chose Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant was a philosopher that stuck out to me because i have heard of his name before and wanted to get a glimse of what he’s really about.To find out he was an inventor of an entire area of ethics, which is called deontology( duty based ethics) is mind blowing. I think Kant contributed to ethics by not only starting his own section but by bringing us back to the basics by us remembering we are all equal. No matter how smart, cool, popular, etc. we all have worth and nothing can change our value. Also by him creating the categorical imperative, which is in my opinion just putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, It is much easier to decypher what is ethical and what is not. I wish i could’ve been able to meet this guy and i wonder how the conversation would go?
