I do not have a topic at this time

Hi,

Please advise that I am planning to construct the PP presentation myself. I am requesting a 2-3 page essay with the information necessary to complete the PP. Thank you. Below are the assignment details.

First, review the scenarios below, and choose the one that corresponds to your concentration area. Each scenario depicts a situation in which a client, student, applicant, or other test taker requires further assessment. You will develop a valid, reliable assessment plan appropriate for the testing situation and test taker. In your presentation, you will describe your assessment plan and explain your choices.

Forensic:

A Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judge has ordered that two parents, who both seek sole custody of their child, undergo psychological evaluations. Both parents have made strong allegations about each other during court proceedings, each suggesting that the other parent is a danger to the child. For example, during the proceedings, each has described occurrences in which the other parent failed to take care of the child properly due to substance use issues. Both have suggested that the other parent has anger management issues and violent tendencies. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the judge has ordered both parties to undergo psychological evaluations and submit psychological reports to the court.

Present your assessment plan in a 10 – 12 slide PowerPoint presentation (see Unit 8 Assignment template), addressing each of the following:

  • Summarize the reasons for the assessment referral. Feel free to add details to the original scenario description if needed.
  • State the main objectives of your assessment plan. You could approach your objectives in multiple ways, depending on what you identify as the main assessment needs in the given situation. Your objectives should include three to five main goals to achieve using the assessment tools.
  • Choose three psychological tests from the Mental Measurements Yearbook of Tests in Print database in the Purdue Global Library to assess the test taker. Describe each test in detail, including the construct(s) it measures, the type of scale it uses, the item type(s), the number of items, and other test characteristics.
  • Provide evidence-based explanations for each test you chose.
    • Provide evidence that each psychological tool is reliable (e.g., demonstrates test-retest, parallel-forms, alternative forms, split-half, internal consistency, or inter-scorer reliability).
    • Provide evidence from scholarly sources demonstrating that each tool is valid (e.g., evidence of face validity, content validity, criterion-related validity, and construct validity).
  • Explain what types of recommendations this assessment plan would allow you to make.
  • Describe any limitations to your assessment plan for the assessment purposes.
  • Use scholarly sources to support your choices.
  • Cite three or more scholarly sources.

Patho Discussion week 2

Greetings everyone. Welcome to week 2. This week we will be looking at Altered Physiology. You will have a quiz and a case study (listed below). I want to remind you again to review your instruction for the week and the rubric requirement, ensuring that you are meeting both for maximum points.

Case Study: A 12-year-old female patient presents with her father to the emergency room after a kidney transplant due to ESKD 6 months ago.  The father reports that the patient’s mother donated the kidney.  The patient was doing well after the transplant and was compliant taking the anti-rejection medications as ordered at that time.  Recently, the patient missed some of the medication due to her school schedule.  The patient has been noticing some edema to her face and hasn’t been voiding as much in the last few days.  The father brought her into the ER at the direction of the nephrologist.

Pointers:

-Ensure that you know the difference between physiology and pathophysiology

-Understand what a pathophysiological process is and be able to explain it in writing.

-Have your APA manual at your side when writing as APA is part of your grade.

-Know how to explain presenting symptoms. For example, fever is not caused by tonsillitis, UTI’s, cellulitis, etc. Fever is the result of pyrogens that enter the body which results in an increase in the hyothalamic set point. This triggers vasoconstriction which pushes blood from the periphery in an effort  to decrease the body’s loss of heat (please do not copy and paste this example into your writings).

CASE STUDY ANALYSIS

An understanding of cells and cell behavior is a critically important component of disease diagnosis and treatment. But some diseases can be complex in nature, with a variety of factors and circumstances impacting their emergence and severity.

Effective disease analysis often requires an understanding that goes beyond isolated cell behavior. Genes, the environments in which cell processes operate, the impact of patient characteristics, and racial and ethnic variables all can have an important impact.

An understanding of the signals and symptoms of alterations in cellular processes is a critical step in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For APRNs, this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans.

In this Assignment, you examine a case study and analyze the symptoms presented. You identify cell, gene, and/or process elements that may be factors in the diagnosis, and you explain the implications to patient health.

WEEKLY RESOURCES

To prepare:

By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned to a specific case study for this Case Study Assignment. Please see the “Announcements” section of the classroom for your assignment from your Instructor.

The Assignment

Develop a 1- to 2-page case study analysis in which you:

  • Explain why you think the patient presented the symptoms described.
  • Identify the genes that may be associated with the development of the disease.
  • Explain the process of immunosuppression and the effect it has on body systems.
