Setting up the format for an APA style paper

· Begin by setting your cursor at the first, beginning space of the first page of your paper and creating all of your margins at 1”. You do this by going to File>Page Set Up>Margin Tab and set at 1 inch for all 4 sides, Top, Bottom, Right, and Left.

· To set spacing to true Double: First, highlight the entire document text, or choose Select All. Then go to Format>Paragraph>Indents and Spacing Tab and in the box that says Line Spacing: select Double from the pull down menu. Make sure the ‘before’ and ‘after’ boxes are set at 0 pt, and not at AutoDouble Space throughout the document and see rules in APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition. APA is about saving space… no gaps or quadruple spacing, so the document is consistent and easy to read.

· The font is Times New Roman12 pt. Use the same size and typeface throughout, including the paging and Running heads.

Transcription Project Requirements

To achieve a successful project experience and outcome, you are expected to meet the following requirements.

· Content: Prepare a comprehensive project that includes all sections as described in the Content Format section below.

· Components: Include a title page, the body of the paper, and a reference list.

· Number of pages: The body of the paper should be 10-12 pages.

· Written communication: Demonstrate accurate, meaningful, and appropriate written communication.

· References: You should use a minimum of five references. The references can include peer-reviewed journal articles or textbooks. You must use proper APA style in listing your references. Refer to the APA Style and Formatting module in Capella’s Online Writing Center on iGuide for more information.

· Formatting:

· Use APA (6th edition) formatting for the introduction and summary sections, including correct in-text citations, proper punctuation, double-spacing throughout, proper headings and subheadings, no skipped lines before headings and subheadings, proper paragraph and block indentation, and no bullets. Refer to the APA Style and Formatting module for more information.

· Write your paper using Microsoft Word, not Works or WordPerfect.

SCHOOL COUNSELING SESSION OF A 10TH GRADE STUDENT WHO GRADES DROPPED BECAUSE OF PARENTS DIVORCE

Start your introduction here. APA sixth edition does not use a heading title for the introduction because its position in the paper identifies it as the introduction. Open your paper with a foreword to introduce your case. Provide a general description of your selected case, a legend for the speakers (such as S – student, M – mother, T – teacher) and any other presenting information that provides helpful context. Be sure to describe the client and conceptualize the presenting problem in language that indicates your understanding of the student and the presenting issues. Base your conceptualization on theory.

The introduction should be anywhere from one to three paragraphs. All paragraphs of your paper should be double-spaced. The margins in this template have been set to one inch on all sides, and the running head and automatic page numbering has been set up for your convenience. Remember to indent paragraphs in each section.

Do not consider this template to be the final word on writing your paper or APA style and formatting. Be sure to explore and consult the Capella Graduate Online Writing Center – APA Style and Formatting page and the Capella Graduate Online Writing Center for detailed information.

Section 2 – Transcription and Analysis

Use the transcription form included on this page for transcription. Suggested length: (5-7 pages). The four column transcription form is described on the next page within the columns.

Verbatim Transcription Clinical Skills and Competencies Analysis of Clinical Thinking Evaluation of Counselor’s Response
Each row is for a different speaker’s turn.
Column 1 – Verbatim Transcription: Transcribe a 10-minute segment of your Unit 6 role-play verbatim—your words and the client’s words. You may also comment on silences, pauses, or relevant observations of body language. Use Student to identify the client’s words and behaviors, and use Counselor to identify the counselor’s words and behaviors. Do not use any names in the verbatim transcription.

Column 2 – Clinical Skills and Competencies (“What I did”): Identify clinical skills and competencies you utilized during the session. These will come from the range of skills described and discussed in the textbooks for this course.

Column 3 –

Analysis of Clinical Thinking column (“What I was thinking”): Analyze your reasoning for the exchange; provide a conceptualization based on a hypothesis that prompted either the client response or your response as the counselor.

Column 4 – Evaluation of Counselor’s Response (“What I would do differently now”): Evaluate the effectiveness of the skill, competency, or statement utilized by you, the counselor. Note if you would change the content, delivery, or timing of your responses. Comment on what you could have said or done differently or on the value of what you did say or do. You may also provide analysis of your emotional responses or thoughts during the session.

Example: Counselor: I can see that you are upset Acknowledged nonverbal behavior and reflected feeling Noticing the student’s affect is important to acknowledge my interest and concern. Comments:

Math has always been a problem for me but this instructor really explained it well

Although the instructor sounded like he knew what he was talking about I could not follow his explanations.

I learned more from this instructor than all my high school math teachers combined.

I really liked the extra handouts with examples that the instructor handed out in class.

The instructor was unfair. Even if I got the answer right he took points off because I did not show how I got the answer.

Worst class ever.

What Should Education Teach?

What Should Education Teach?

W.E.B. Du Bois was the first African American to earn a doctorate from Harvard. He fought for African American rights and cofounded the NAACP. Du Bois sought social, economic and political reforms to expand equality and access for minorities (Pullman & Van Patten).

Watch the short biography of W.E.B. Du Bois (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. on Bio.com. Then reflect on the following quote:

Education and work are levers to uplift a people. Work alone will not do it unless inspired by the right ideals and guided by intelligence. Education must not simply teach work—it must teach life.” – W. E. B. DuBois, The Negro Problem, 1903

Although this quote is more than 100 years old, the words still ring true for our society today. Please explain what you think “Education must not simply teach work—it must teach life” meant then and what it means now.

Diagnostics and Interventions for the Global Human Capital Manager

Unit 4 IP

Part 1

Diagnostics and Interventions for the Global Human Capital Manager

The board of directors at AGC needs a status update on your change management project. Shawn asks you to write an executive report for John and the board of directors about the change management process and the progress being made toward resolving the global human capital management problems at AGC. This report will be shared at an upcoming investor meeting. Because the future success of AGC depends on achieving its human capital management goals, the board of directors wants to ensure that investors understand that it has changed its strategy to align human capital goals with its organizational goals.

Review the AGC scenario for this course and prepare a 750–1000 word executive report that describes the steps in your change management plan, including the following:

  • Diagnosis: A summary of AGC’s problems, how they were diagnosed, and your conclusions regarding the root causes.
  • Intervention: A description of human capital management strategies that you recommended to create change at AGC and how they were implemented.
  • Evaluation: How did you measure the effectiveness of your change management plan? What were the effects on the employees and the organization’s market performance?  (750 – 1,000 words)

Unit 5 IP

Part 2

The Changing Role of Global Human Capital Managers and Sustaining the Competitive Edge

You and Shawn are now ready to meet with John and AGC’s investor group. Shawn calls to check in with you about the executive report. You need to add one more section of information that will help ensure that AGC remains proactive and competitive in a quickly changing global environment. You have enjoyed working with Shawn on the change management project and know that you will soon have fond memories of helping AGC be more aware of the value of human capital.

Review the AGC scenario for this course, revise Part 1 of the Key Assignment based on your instructor’s feedback, and add an additional 750–1000 words to the executive report that addresses the following:

  • Now that the change management plan has been completed, describe AGC’s new leadership styles and organizational culture.
  • Are there any potential internal or external threats that AGC should be prepared to address in its business environment?
  • How can AGC detect these potential internal and external threats?
  • What are some methods that AGC can use to protect the organization from these internal and external threats?
  • (750–1,000 words)

These are to separate assignments.
