TypeFocus Personality, Interests, And Values

  1.  Prepare: Prior to beginning work on this discussion, complete the TypeFocus Assessment quiz. The TypeFocus Assessment, offered by our Career Services (Links to an external site.) department, provides insight into your personality, interests, and values. Identifying your personality, interests, and values can help you choose a career that is meaningful and satisfying for you. Then view the Your Career Roadmap (Links to an external site.) video (below).

Reflect: Read through your TypeFocus Assessment results for the Personality Type, Interests, and Values categories.

    • To access the Personality Type results: Click on the “Personality” tab under Self Assessments and then click on “Results.”
    • To access your Interests: Click on the “Interests” tab under Self Assessments and then click on “Results.”
    • To access your Values: Click on the “Values” tab under Self Assessments and then click on “Results.”

Think about how your personality will fit the career you wish to pursue after graduation or one that interests you. Careers are relationships we have with work, and like any relationship, they need to be sustainable. Choosing careers that support our interests and aligning them with our personal values will help us not only maintain our careers long term but will also make them more enjoyable and productive.

PROFESSIONAL AUDIT WORKSHEET: Functional Resume

Prepare: Prior to beginning work on this assignment watch the Week 4 Assignment video (Links to an external site.), review the sample resumes, check Support U for resources including a model assignment, and read the following:

  • The Most In-Demand Hard and Soft Skills of 2020 (Links to an external site.)
  • Examples from the Workplace (Links to an external site.)

Reflect: Once you are ready to take the next step in your professional journey, digital tools can help you prepare for and find that perfect position. Think about the tools you have in your personal skillset. What strengths will you highlight in your career search? Consider your past work experience to help you decide which resume template to complete. If you already have considerable work history and education under your belt, then the reverse chronological resume is the one to choose. However, if your work history is limited or consists of several short jobs, a functional resume might be the better option as it places more emphasis on skills than work history.

Write: Select and complete the template that best fits your experience and background:

Cultural Functions In Practice

An educational leader promotes the success of every student by building a student-centered culture that is inclusive, inviting, and supports the personal and academic growth of all. This culture is visible and communicated through the school’s mission and vision, as well as through practices, policies, and procedures that align to them.

Observe the culture of your school or a school you are familiar with, and create a one-page list or chart to include:

  • The school’s mission and vision statements.
  • At least 3-4 examples of administrators’ leadership behaviors that promote the intended school culture, identifying a PSEL standard that aligns to each.
  • Examples of 3-4 staff functions or activities that promote the intended school culture, identifying a PSEL standard that aligns to each.
  • A minimum of 3-4 examples of student functions or activities that promote the intended school culture, identifying a PSEL standard that aligns to each.
  • Provide 1-2 examples of behaviors, functions, or activities that occur regularly that go against the intended school culture. (If you find no examples of this at your school, you may write “Not Applicable” in this space.)

In the same document, write a 250-500 word reflection evaluating what you described in your list/chart regarding the school’s culture.

Include the following:

  • What is working well
  • What is not working well
  • Changes or improvements you would recommend

Support your assignment with 1-2 scholarly resources.
