Leadership: Theory and practice

This assignment will be accomplished in two parts. First, you are to do some self-assessment by completing the following three exercises in your textbook.

Leadership Traits Questionnaire, p. 38 Skills Inventory, p. 67 Leadership Behavior Questionnaire, p. 89

These exercises are for your benefit and self-reflection, so there is no need to have anyone else fill anything out about you, as is requested in the instructions for the Leadership Trait Questionnaire. Disregard that portion of the instructions.

Score the exercises as instructed in the textbook.

Then, you will write an essay to share and discuss your results. Your essay should contain an introduction, be clearly organized, and demonstrate critical thinking. It should contain insights gained, the degree to which you believe the results seem accurate, and potential implications of the scores moving forward in your professional or personal life.

Your essay will be a minimum of three pages in full length pages, not including the title and reference pages. You must use at least one source from the Waldorf Online Library to support the discussion in your essay. All sources, including the textbook, will have proper citations. Your essay, including all references, will be formatted in APA style. You should pay particular attention to formatting proper headers, headings (for each section), the title page, in-text citations and your reference list.

Target Of Program Evaluation Plan, Part 1

Assignment 1 is the first part of a five-part project to plan the various elements of a program evaluation for education. Select a program target from your school district, workplace, (e.g., business training program) or your university (where you are a student). For you to gain the most from the assignment, you should select a program that you are interested in, would like to see evaluated, and are able to obtain information about. (Possible programs include: student assessment, teacher assessment, pay for student achievement, new teacher or employee training, online classrooms, anti-bullying, gender equity for girls in math and science, school to work, retention of at-risk students, and schools of choice (charter schools), etc.). As you develop the entire plan, gather information, and receive feedback from your professor (or others), you should revise and refine each part of the project. Think of your professor as your project evaluator and supervisor who will help guide you so that you produce an outstanding, well-developed evaluation plan for the stakeholders.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe three (3) elements of a worthy object for program evaluation – its type, the department administrating it, and target population.
  2. Describe the program’s history, primary purpose(s), and / or expected outcomes.
  3. Explain three (3) reasons for selecting the program (e.g., program’s value or lack of it, issues surrounding it, age, relevance, cost, impact on students, etc.).
  4. Discuss three (3) advantages of evaluating the program at this time.
  5. Discuss two (2) major constraints in conducting an evaluation on this program and a method of addressing them.
  6. Use at least three (3) peer-reviewed academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and many Websites do not qualify as academic resources. Peer-reviewed academic resources refer to articles and scholarly journals that are reviewed by a panel of experts or peers in the field. Review the video titled Research Starter: Finding Peer-Reviewed References for more information on obtaining peer-reviewed academic resources through your Blackboard course shell.
  7. Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
  8. Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
  9. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
  10. Include a reference page. Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explore the need for evaluating school programs.
  • Develop a program evaluation plan for education.
  • Write clearly and concisely about education program evaluation using proper writing mechanics.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in educational program evaluation.

SafeAssign for Class Assignments

SafeAssign Message: SafeAssign is a new plagiarism detection tool used by Strayer University Faculty to check submitted assignments for plagiarism.  When students upload an assignment to the Blackboard course shell the assignments submitted by the class may automatically be submitted to SafeAssign to check for plagiarism.

Once submitted, you will be given a percentage of the paper (in a Safe Assign Originality Report) that matches other sources.  That percentage must be 20% or below to have an acceptable submission.  (That would mean that 20% or less of the paper was copied/pasted from another site.)

You may want to contact your Learning Resource team or refer to the Virtual Writing Center for information and tips to enhance your writing skills, learn about APA formatting, and participate in live sessions.

Questions pertaining to SafeAssisgn can be directed to: academicintegrity@strayer.edu
