Individual Portion:

You have been hired to manage a particular aspect of the new adult addictions center. It is your job to write a proposal to bring to the next board meeting so that funds can be allocated to initiate your plans. This is the brainstorming stage of the planning. Your proposal will need to be scrutinized by the board before it approves it. It is important to be as specific and detailed as possible to justify the needs of your department before going forward. It is also important to be realistic, but at the same time expand your ideas, goals, and aspirations into doable actions because this board wants you to think outside of the box.

Before starting this assignment, come together as a group, and decide on which of the following roles each member of your group will take on:

  • Administrative
  • Clinical
  • Case management
  • Client advocacy
  • Community resources
  • Finances (e.g., managed care, insurance, and self-pay)
  • Medical (e.g., medication, health and wellness groups, psychiatrist, and nurse)
  • Other needs (e.g., social, legal, nutritional, educational, employment, and medical)

Write a 900–1,200 word paper that addresses the following:

  • What is the department’s role within the organization, and what are its responsibilities?
  • What are the client needs or services that are addressed by this department?
  • What individuals and resources are needed to provide those services?

The writing assignment needs to be written in essay form using APA format (see below for more). You need to support your diagnosis with at least 2 scholarly references. Scholarly references are peer reviewed references. You must use the DSM-V as one of your scholarly references. Examples of other scholarly references include your textbook, journal articles, and articles from .gov websites (such as the National Institutes of Health) among others. Popular media and other non-academic sources such as Wiki, .com or .net websites, blogs, or magazines like Psychology Today are to be avoided because they are not considered to be reliable sources for college work.

In the body of your paper use at least 2 scholarly references to help support your diagnosis. One of your references must be the DSM-V. All references listed on the reference page should have one or more corresponding citations (Author, year) in the body of the paper to give credit to the author.

Here are additional instructions to help organize your essay:

Start your essay with an introductory paragraph. In your introduction include a topic sentence and thesis statement. In your introduction provide the reader with an overview of the main concepts of your paper and the purpose of your paper. This is where you would provide background information on the character and their presenting problems and symptoms.

The body of your paper should be about 3-4 paragraphs (1-2 pages, plus a cover page, plus a separate page with your list of references). One topic/idea per paragraph. This is where you would explain your diagnosis, give examples of the character’s problems or symptoms, and explain your the rationale for the diagnosis using the DSM-V and other scholarly references. You must provide academic support and citations for your diagnosis (at least 2 references).

End your paper with a conclusion. Your conclusion should be a paragraph summarizing the key elements of your paper. Restate your thesis statement in your conclusion.

Include a cover page with your name, date, and title of assignment.

Double space your entire paper

Use Times New Roman 12 point font

Indent the first sentence of each new paragraph 5-7 spaces.

Include a separate page for references. Use the title “References” (omit quotation marks) at the top center of the page. List your references (hint: use only scholarly references).

You must have one or more corresponding in-text citations (Author, year of publication) for every reference listed on your reference page.

Do the advertisement examples fit the logical fallacies stated? Explain.

Advertising Claims

In this assignment, look for and provide two advertisements that you think contain logical fallacies. Use any advertisement that you can find in magazines, on television, or from the Internet for this assignment.

 

Your two examples must represent two of the following logical fallacies:

  5. Limited Choice
  6. Appeal to Emotion
  7. Personal Attack (ad hominem)
  8. Circular Reasoning

The goal is to examine statements critically, looking for logical flaws.

 

In your post, address the following questions:

 

  • What logical fallacies are represented in the advertisements you found?
  • What are some reasons for your skepticism?
  • Based upon your examination, how would you redo the advertisement to make it more truthful? Would this be possible?

 

Write your initial response in a minimum of 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

 

By, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through review the postings of your peers and respond to at least two of them. Consider commenting on the following:

 

  • Do the advertisement examples fit the logical fallacies stated? Explain.
  • Could there be other logical fallacies involved in these examples?
  • Do you think that advertising would be more effective if it relied more upon truthful arguments and less on logical fallacies? Explain.

 

 

Analyze how ethical issues might affect the implementation of MBTI personality assessment in the setting native to your chosen figure or character.

Week 2 – Assignment

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review Chapter 3 in your textbook and the HumanMetrics Jung Typology Test website, and read the Choca (1999), Paris (2005), and Westen (1998) articles.

 

For this assignment, choose a historically important figure or a character from a movie, novel, or TV show, then address the following in your paper:

 

  • Examine your figure or character from the perspective of Jung’s theoretical approach to personality and describe your chosen figure or character based on the dichotomous facets of personality as defined by Jung.
  • Evaluate the current Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality instrument, which is based on Jung’s theories, and provide your impression of your chosen figure or character through the major facets of the MBTI.
  • Analyze how ethical issues might affect the implementation of MBTI personality assessment in the setting native to your chosen figure or character.
  • Assess the MBTI and its use to provide results on your chosen figure or character and describe the efficacy and reliability of this assessment as it relates to your chosen person.
  • Summarize and present your opinion about how well this theory describes the person in question. Provide research to support your claims.

The Personality Analysis

  • Must be three to five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
  • Must use at least three peer-reviewed sources, including a minimum of three from the Ashford University Library.  These may include the required articles for the assignment.
  • Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
