You have been tasked to design a counseling group from start to finish. To start this task, select one of the following group types.

  1. Children of divorce
  2. Children of addicts
  3. Adult Survivors of abuse (could be sexual or physical)
  4. Treatment for adults who are addicts
  5. Grief recovery
  6. Teens struggling with gender dysphoria (sexual identity)
  7. Teen support group (parents who are addicts)
  8. Relationship building (homosexual and heterosexual – there does not have to be a division because a group is a group)
  9. Domestic violence group for nonoffenders
  10. Parenting group

Now that you have selected a group type you need to consider the other details of your group as well to include how new members will be selected. When determining which new members to add, it is suggested you follow a screening process to ensure they are a good fit for the group.

Create a 12-15-slide presentation about your group that includes the following:

  1. Group type
  2. Why you chose this type of group
  3. Population serving
  4. Number of sessions
  5. Number of participants
  6. Goals of the counseling group
  7. Theoretical approach(es) to be used in the group
  8. A set of screening questions and criteria that you, as the group leader, will use to choose the members of the group. Begin with demographic questions (name, age, address, presenting issue, etc.) There should be a minimum of 10 screening questions, not including the demographics questions.
  9. Speaker notes on each slide that would represent what you would say if giving this presentation in person.
  10. Use a minimum of three scholarly references in addition to the course textbook to support the findings.

Title slide and reference slide are not included in the slide count. Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it. Please ensure the speaker notes include a minimum of 50 words.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Congratulations! You’ve been promoted to be a new training manager for your department. Your first task is to train your team to use some new software. In your psychology class, you learned about two different approaches to learning:

· Operant conditioning

· Observational learning

PTSD Brochure

Using between 350 and 400 words create a tri-fold health brochure on the topic of Posttraumatic Stress.

You will use the Microsoft Word pamphlet template. The pamphlet needs to be visually interesting and use appropriate images. This project must have 350 – 400 of your own words. Quotations are not part of the word count. Grammar and spelling are important.

You must cite all of your sources using APA style. Graphs and tables must be cited though pictures need not be.

You will use a tri-fold style pamphlet and all panels must have text. Your name and topic go on the front panel and works cited go on the back panel or on a separate page.

Create Content! Be sure to meet these four content requirements.

  1. Be sure to clearly (and in your OWN WORDS) define all key terms.   
  2. Explain how your topic relates to health/mental health and adjustment. This can include how knowledge of your topic can help people live better lives. For example, for a health issue, explain what will happen if someone does not address it, including causes, progression, and treatment. 
  3. Include your name, PSY 118 section # (i.e. 0004) and semester (i.e. Spring 2019) on the cover of your brochure. 
  4. Be sure to write for the general public.  Write as if someone has no knowledge of this psychology course, so over – explain as needed (key terms). 

Sources and Citations: 

 

You will need to find at least four reliable sources to gather information from, and summarize using your own words. You may use direct quotes, but sparingly. Please cite these appropriately using APA style.

You may use your textbook as one of your sources. (Weiten/Hammer/Dunn “Adjust” student edition)

You must use at least one source that is non – internet.

You can quote from someone with experience in the area, but you must be sure to give proper credit, and share their credentials (i.e. they must have some expertise in the area).
