Assignment #2 Dialects & Accents

View the following clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AEkLXkDgWI

In a two-paged, double-spaced, 12-point-font essay, discuss the relationship between dialect and character in this clip from the Walt Disney film Aladdin. Describe, in as much linguistic detail as you can, the dialect (including accent) of at least one of the characters in the clip.

After doing so, describe how the dialect contributes to the character’s role in the clip. How does speaking one dialect over another create, in the audience’s mind, a more developed sense of who the character is, what their motivations might be, as well as their shortcomings?

Display the basic LAN and WAN topology for your remote sites.

Complete the practice labs provided in the Virtual Resource: Hands-On Labs activity for this unit.

Assignment Overview

Health Systems, Inc., the regional hospital that you worked with in the Unit 1 assignment, has hired you to create a design document about how to build remote access to their organization. For this assignment, you will explain how to design the LAN at a remote branch site and discuss how it will interconnect through a WAN to the main Health Systems hospital site.

Assignment Instructions

Use Visio to create a diagram for your project. You may access Visio via the Toolwire Resources in this unit. Include the following in your diagram:

  • Display the basic LAN and WAN topology for your remote sites.
  • Display router and switch placement.
  • Display computers and workstations.

After creating your diagram, write a paper in which you complete the following:

  • Describe your diagram. Include specifications about the topologies, cabling, routers, and switches.
  • Provide an analysis of your diagram. Explain the role that the devices on your network play in network communication.
  • Support your diagram. Provide reasoning for choosing the switching and routing, transmission media, and topology.

Submission Requirements

  • Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • APA formatting: If you use sources, ensure that resources and citations are formatted according to APA (6th edition) style and formatting.
  • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.

Refer to the Network Design Scoring Guide to ensure that you meet the grading criteria for this Assignment.

Determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for μ7 = the average attitude toward Springdale Mall.

The major shopping areas in the community of Springdale include Springdale Mall, West Mall, and the downtown area on Main Street. A telephone survey has been conducted to identify strengths and weaknesses of these areas and to find out how they fit into the shopping activities of local residents. The 150 respondents were also asked to provide information about themselves and their shopping habits. The data are provided in the file Shopping (attached below). The variables in the survey can be found in the file Coding (attached below).

In this exercise, some of the estimation techniques presented in the module will be applied to the Springfield Shopping survey results. You may assume that these respondents represent a simple random sample of all potential respondents within the community, and that the population is large enough that application of the finite population correction would not make an appreciable difference in the results.

Managers associated with shopping areas like these find it useful to have point estimates regarding variables describing the characteristics and behaviors of their customers. In addition, it is helpful for them to have some idea as to the likely accuracy of these estimates. Therein lies the benefit of the techniques presented in this module and applied here.

  1. Item C in the description of the data collection instrument lists variables 7, 8, and 9, which represent the respondent’s general attitude toward each of the three shopping areas. Each of these variables has numerically equal distances between the possible responses, and for purposes of analysis they may be considered to be of the interval scale of measurement.
    1. Determine the point estimate, and then construct the 95% confidence interval for μ7 = the average attitude toward Springdale Mall.
    2. Repeat part (a) for μ8 and μ9, the average attitudes toward Downtown and West Mall, respectively.
  2. Given the breakdown of responses for variable 26 (sex of respondent), determine the point estimate and then construct the 95% confidence interval for p26 = the population proportion of males.
  3. Given the breakdown of responses for variable 28 (marital status of respondent), determine the point estimate and then construct the 95% confidence interval for p28 = the population proportion in the “single or other” category.
  4. Assume the managers have requested estimates of the mean attitudes towards each mall with a margin of error of 0.05 for each. If the managers want to have 95% confidence that the sample mean will fall within this margin of error, how large should the sample size be for each mall?

Paper Requirements

Write a report that APA format. Items that should be included, at a minimum, are a title page, an introduction, a body that answers the questions posed in the problem, and a conclusion paragraph that addresses your findings and what you have determined from the data and your analysis. As with all written assignments, you should have in-text citations and a reference page. Please include any tables of calculations, calculated values, and graphs associated with this problem in the body of your assignment response. The paper must be 3 pages along along with the EXCEL file report.

THIS PAPER WILL BE CHECKED FOR PLAGARISM!

Which projects would you recommend with the €75M budget?

Chocolat Cordon Rouge
Corporate Finance
You are part of Marcel Arnaud’s team to analyze the 7 different projects under
consideration.
The table in the case describes the expected cash flows of the different projects. All
the costs and benefits of the projects have been taken into consideration except for
two potential costs:
1. John Hsu, the manager sponsoring the project to build a factory in the U.S.,
did not include the loss in output of the French plant in Years 4-10. He claims
that those cash flows are not part of his proposed project and as such should
not be included.
2. Bertrand Godard, who is proposing to expand capacity in Brittany, has not
included the cost of the land because he claims that the firm already owns it.
However, you should note that the cash flows of the project include the sale
of the land in year 10.
Before conducting your analysis, think about whether these decisions are correct
and, if not, adjust the cash flows accordingly.
Clarifications:
• The case gives you the WACC of each project. This is just the discount rate. As the case indicates, CCR has only €75M in its bank account to pay for the projects
investment costs.
Assignment Questions
1. Compute the NPV and IRR of each project. If there were no budget
constraint, which projects would you recommend?
2. Which projects would you recommend with the €75M budget? Assume first
that if CCR sells the land, it will NOT use the proceeds to increase its capital
budget.
