How has this attachment style affected your past and/or current relationships?

There are three primary romantic attachment styles. One quick way to discover your romantic attachment style is to choose which of the following descriptions best describes. Take a minute to do this:

Secure attachment style: You find it relatively easy to get close to others and am comfortable depending on them and having them depend on me. I do not often worry about being abandoned or about someone getting close to me.

Avoidant attachment style: You  somewhat arefortable being close to others. you find itficult to trust them completely and difficult to allow myself to depend on them. I am nervous when anyone gets too close, and often, love partners want me to be more intimate than I feel comfortable being.

Anxious/ambivalent attachment style: u find that others are reluctant to get as close as I would like. I often worry that my partner does not really love me or will not want to stay with me. I want to merge completely with another person, and this desire sometimes scares people away. (Kenrick, Neuberg, & Cialdini, 2007 p.270)

In a 3page paper discuss the following:

    • Based on the above descriptions what romantic attachment style best describes you?

    • How has this attachment style affected your past and/or current relationships?

    • How has this attachment style also affected your non-romantic relationships?

    • Is your romantic attachment style similar to the attachment style you had with your parents when you were young?

    • If it is the same why do you think it has not changed? If it is different what experiences as an adult do you think lead to this change?

    • What type of situations might an adult experience that would shift their childhood attachment style to a different adult romantic relationship style?

    •           Secure (as a child) to anxious/ambivalent (as an adult)

Avoidant (as a child) to secure (as an adult)

Module 4 Discussion Child And Adolescent Psych

Assignment 1: Discussion—Autism Spectrum Disorder: An Epidemic

The number of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder has risen dramatically during the past few decades. Researchers are now calling it an urgent health matter; some are even calling it an epidemic. Between 1991 and 1999, the number of children in the United States receiving special education services for autism spectrum disorder rose 500%. The rate has nearly doubled in the past ten years across the country. In 2002, the rate of children with autism spectrum disorder was 1 in every 150 children. Currently, approximately 1 in every 88 children has autism spectrum disorder. This increase is happening not only in the United States; studies have found rates to be rising in Canada and across Europe, as well.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet, research the increase in the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder. Then, respond to the following:

  • Identify and explain at least three possible causes for the increase in the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder.
  • Analyze why so many children are developing autism spectrum disorder.
    • Do you think the numbers have increased due to improved methods of identifying and diagnosing children with autism spectrum disorder? Why or why not?
    • Are there some environmental, genetic, or cultural reasons for the increase? Explain your answer.
  • Recommend what we should do, as a society, to address this epidemic.

Write your initial response in 300–500 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources, including in-text citations and full references. Incorporate information from at least two academic sources to support your statements or ideas. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this module, or academic journal articles found in the AU online library.

Gender Appropriate And Inappropriate Behaviors

Gender Appropriate and Inappropriate Behaviors

Recent headlines have sparked heated debate about whether boys should be allowed to dress as girls. For example, a 5-year-old boy in Seattle who enjoys things traditionally for girls, such as jewelry, the color pink, and dresses was supported and encouraged by his mother, who wrote a book about him called “My Princess Boy”. A J. Crew ad featured a mother painting her young boy’s toenails hot pink (CBS News, 2011 April 13). Reactions ranged from outrage and disbelief to support of the mothers.

On the flipside, girls who shun traditionally “girly things” such as dresses and flowers in favor of more traditional “boy things” such as watching or playing sports, rough-and-tumble play, and choosing boys as friends are often called tomboys.

For either sex, choosing to engage in activities traditionally reserved for a specific sex can result in teasing and accusations of homosexuality.

  • Using research gathered from your textbook, online course content, and at least 1 research article, analyze the above scenarios.
    • Are the behaviors discussed above (i.e., preferring things traditionally acceptable for a specific sex) indicative of homosexuality? Why or why not?
    • Describe the psychological consequences (positive and negative) that might result from engaging in behaviors reserved for a specific sex?
    • Develop an argument for or against concern that these children might be exhibiting a paraphilia.
    • Which paraphilia(s) might apply and what criteria would you use based on the research?

What, if any, intervention would you recommend to a parent whose little girl or boy expresses the desire to engage in behaviors typical of the opposite sex? If you do not believe intervention is necessary, explain why.

Write an essay that is 4 pages in length.  Also, include a cover page and reference list.  Title and references pages not counted

Remember to support your arguments with information drawn from the online content, the textbook, and other credible, scholarly sources to substantiate the points you are making.  Apply APA standards to for writing and citations to your work.
