Contrast of Study Designs

To differentiate between research designs and determine which design is the best fit for the problem statement, purpose statement, and research questions, it is helpful to explore a minimal framework of several designs. Throughout this course, you will explore several designs for your potential dissertation research study. In this assignment, you will explore the possibility of conducting your proposed dissertation research study using a phenomenology design, and you will contrast several designs considering your proposed study.

Using the information from your submitted Topic 3 assignment, “Application of Qualitative Descriptive Design,” and your submitted Topic 5 assignment, “Application of Case Study Design,” enter the revised components into the respective columns in the “Contrast Table.” Be sure you are entering information that has been revised based on the instructor feedback from your original submissions.

Write a reflection (250-300 words) that provides a bulleted list of the changes you made to the paper and discusses your revision process including how you incorporated the instructor’s feedback into the revised version. Similar to an abstract, this section will receive its own page following the title page and preceding the introduction to the paper.

Consider the possibility of conducting your proposed dissertation research study using a phenomenology design. Enter the components into the Phenomenology column in the “Contrast Table.”

In 1,250-1,500 words, contrast the use of qualitative descriptive, case study, and phenomenology designs for your proposed dissertation research. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each design relative to your study? Enter your response in the space provided in the “Contrast Table” resource.
