This assignment will explore your understanding of economic principles we have been studying as they apply to the field of Education. Education
encompasses approximately 6% of the GDP of the United States, or over $1T in spending. Consequently, there are many aspects of this broad area which
attract considerable public debate, and, in many instances, public expenditure.
Perform some research as to recent thought concerning the pros and the cons of taking some sort of public action within the topic you have selected. Your
research should include at least (2) references in favor of the action, and (2) in opposition, along with some sort of pertinent data, and a perspective of
anticipated future activity. This can be at the national, state, or local level.
Your paper should include a statement as to why this topic is economically significant, basic data (findings); a summary of the research, and a clear
demonstration in writing of an understanding of the relevant economic factors affecting the topic. Remember to use economic terminology appropriately,
and significantly limit any references from the textbook – a purpose of the assignment is to expand our knowledge beyond the text. Any graphs you may
arrive at may be included, although constructing such is not in any way required. All in all, your paper should end up at between 3 and 5 pages in length.
