ECET Digital Signal Processing Class

Construct  a histogram for the given data:

Calculate the mean and median. Compare the two. Find the standard deviation and compare it with the interquartile range.

Two dice are rolled:

  1. Determine the sample space
  2. Determine the events A: Equal faces, B: Sum exceeds 9, C: Sum equals 7
  3. Are the events A: Sum divisible by 3 and B: Sum divisible by 5 mutually exclusive?

Find the sample space for the following experiment:
Drawing bolts from a lot of 20, containing one defective D, until D is drawn, one at a time and assuming sampling without replacement, that is, bolts drawn are not returned to the lot.

In the prior problem (#5) find the probability of E: At least 1 defective (i) directly, (ii) by using complements; in both cases (a) and (b).

  • If a circuit contains 3 automatic switches and we want that, with a probability of 95%, during a given time interval they are all working, what probability of failure per time interval can we admit for a single switch?

List (a) all permutations, (b) all combinations without repetition, (c) all combinations with repetitions, of 5 letters a, e, I, o, u taken 2 at a time.

In how many different ways can we select a committee consisting of 3 engineers, 2 biologists, and 2 chemists from 10 engineers, 5 biologists, and 6 chemists?

How many different license plates showing 5 symbols, namely, 2 letters followed by 3 digits, could be made?

Global Warming: Cause And Mitigation

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:
1. Compare and contrast natural versus anthropogenic climate changes. Include specific examples
of each.
2. Take a position as to whether or not global warming is taking place. Provide three (3) lines of
evidence to support your position.
3. Assess two (2) current mitigation strategies for global warming, such as carbon sequestration,
carbon taxing, clean coal technology, higher fuel efficiency standards, and so on. Include a
discussion on the effectiveness of this mitigation strategy, as well as its potential costs and policy
implications.
4. Speculate what policy changes you would propose to help stabilize global climate and which
business sectors or nations would be held to more strict standards if you implement your
proposed policies.
5. Use at least four (4) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites
do not qualify as quality resources. The body of the paper must have in-text citations that
correspond to the references. Integrate all sources into your paper using proper techniques of
quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing, along with proper use of in-text citations to credit your
sources.
Your report must follow these formatting requirements:
 Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all
sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your
professor for any additional instructions.
 Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s
name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in
the required assignment page length.

Lab: Blood Pressure

Week 7

Lab Worksheet

SCI214 – Integrated Science

Week 7 Lab: Blood Pressure

Instructions

Read the lab instructions provided with the interactive lab.  Record your data on the data table below and answer the lab questions.  This lab exercise/worksheet is valued at a maximum of 40 points.

Prelab  Questions (5 points each)

Question 1.  What is hypertension?  What do the systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings represent?

PostLab Questions (5 points each)

Answer the following five questions with as much detail as possible by entering your response in the box below the question.

Question 1:  Briefly describe the steps that you followed in this exercise.  What data did you record?

Question 2:  During the course of this exercise, did you obtain any blood pressure readings that were outside of the normal range for the group being tested?  If so, what did you notice on the medical charts for these individuals that might explain the high readings?

Question 3:  List the risk factors associated with hypertension.  Based on you observations, which risk factor(s) do you think is (are) most closely associated with hypertension?

Question 4:  What effect might obesity have on blood pressure?  Does obesity alone cause a person to be at risk for high blood pressure?  What other factors, in combination with obesity, might increase a person’s risk for high blood pressure?

Question 5:  Based on the results of this exercise, what conclusion(s) can you draw about the relationship of age and gender to group blood pressure averages?

Draw the circuit diagram of a 3-phase Y-connected voltage source clearly labelling all phase and line voltages

1) Draw the circuit diagram of a 3-phase Y-connected voltage source clearly labelling all phase and line voltages. Also, write down the mathematical formulas that express the relationship between phase voltages, and phase and line voltages. Are the line voltages greater in magnitude or phase voltages?.

2) Write down the relationship between peak and RMS values of a voltage. What are the peak and RMS values of the mains voltage in Australia?.

3) For the following (Delta) connected load, if the phase impedance is 18+21j Ω/Φ, what would be the phase impedance of the equivalent Y (wye) connected load. Draw the circuit diagram of the Y (wye) connected load?.

Note: Will provide with diagram pic

4) What is the current in a 3-phase 4 wire balanced system? and why?

5) What is the per unit system? How are the actual circuit quantities (voltages, currents, impedances, etc) converted to their per-unit values? If the 3-Φ apparent power (|S|) rating of a 3-phase Y-to-Y connected load is 5kVA and line voltage is 415volts, what would be the base impedance?.
