A virtual visit is a useful tool to explore and research using the Internet.

When you are assigned a virtual visit, you are graded on how you can find a useful newsworthy article and assemble a clear, though provoking opinion of that article so that it may be discussed in the class’ open forum.

Instructions for a Virtual Visit: Follow exactly

First, using the internet find an article relative to the assigned (usually broad) subject matter. This article is assigned to you today (see above)

Then carefully read the article

Then put the article away and write a summary of the article, remember to give details that you may use in a general discussion.

Last write a summary or answer the assigned questions, INCLUDING YOUR OPINION of what you learned from the article and if you find the article relevant.

Write at least a one-page summary of the article.  More if needed.

Last write a one page full opinion or answer to the questions from the article highlighting the strong points and the weaknesses in you opinion of the article.

Last, Virtual visit must be TWO (or three) full Page of Word (.doc or docx), 12 point size, and traditional font.  The ideas must fill the entire page and may only go beyond the parameter by a line or two.

Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Based on your response to Question 3 in Assignment 1, use the Internet to research two (2) renowned public leaders—one (1) male and one (1) female—that embody your selected theory(ies) and styles. Develop a brief overview (i.e., no more than one [1] paragraph for each leader) of the selected leaders and the leadership theory that defines each as a public administrator. (Response to Question 3 in Assignment 1 is below this assignment detail)
  2. Compare and contrast the leadership theories of the two (2) selected leaders in Question #1. (Consider some of the following: theories that make him / her effective as a leader; whether or not his / her gender impacts his or her ability to lead; supervisors’ and subordinates’ view of him / her as a leader.)
  3. Determine three (3) leadership style strengths and three (3) leadership style weaknesses of each of the selected public leaders. Evaluate the effectiveness of each public leader in terms of each leader’s major successes.
  4. Suggest one (1) key strength or weakness that could influence your ability to be a public leader.

Leadership Styles

It is imperative to note that communities are dynamic or evolving. This justifies the effectiveness of visionary leadership style in public leadership. By applying the visionary leadership style, a public leader will become outstanding as s/he transforms the vision into a reality (Northouse, (2018). It should however be realized that this transformation occurs through action and involving a team to concert both skills and effort. For example, the City manager has visualized the Academy as an institution meant to produce world class public leaders who can perform. He has therefore picked me as part of the team that is going to develop and implement the project. Undeniably, this is a good example of a public leader who with a visionary leadership style has picked a formidable team led by me. Importantly, a public leader using the visionary leadership style is able to determine the skills that will help in reaching the visions. Therefore, by recognizing talent and recruiting individuals with skills sets required and the ones that complement each other the vision is easily reached (Jian, & Fairhurst, 2017). Notably, with the City manager’s skills, mine and those of my subordinates a sufficient pool of skills is developed to attain the vision’s goals.

Finally, the democratic leadership style characterizing public leaders is effective because it incorporates aspects of fairness, and open communication. The leader involves all stakeholders making his or her leadership role experience little or no frictions thus success. A good example of this style in public leadership is when a public leader like the City manager in my local government  allows the community as well as stakeholders to air their views in regards to the development and implementation of the new one million dollar Public Leadership Academy. Evidentially, the City manager as a public leader is noted in this example to be involving all stakeholders in a participative approach in relation to the Academy. In conclusion, it can be seen that communication also moves either way upward and downward from the City manager to stakeholders or from the stakeholders to the city manager a major characteristic of the democratic leadership style expected of a public leader.

Supply Chain And Asset Protection Plan

Scenario: Thanks to your analysis of the organization’s current asset protection, your supervisor sees the need to design a new supply chain or asset protection plan for the organization. Together, the two of you will collaborate on this project to present your plan to the board of directors.

Part A

Using information from Weeks Two and Three, complete the Shrinkage and Loss Template and the Situational Crime Template to outline the options for addressing shrinkage and loss and situational crime. You will use this information in Part B.

Part B

Analyze three to four (3-4) strategies for the agency’s future plans for administrative ethics

Assignment 3: Evaluation of Agency’s Ethics, Cooperation, Leadership, and Legal Decisions
Due Week 6 and worth 270 points

As a consultant, you need to develop an in-depth analysis and evaluation of the selected Agency’s Ethics, Cooperation, Leadership, and Legal Decisions and then provide recommendations for improvement. Therefore, you will conduct interviews with agency representatives and research-related academic sources and government Websites. The analysis will be read by the VP of Accounts and Client Support as well as by the leaders of the agency for whom you are working.

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Analyze two to three (2-3) current events from the past two (2) years (using the e-Activity in Week 4*) focusing on the administrative responsibility and ethical implications to the stakeholders, organization, and public regarding the issues in described in the current event.   4. Analyze three to four (3-4) strategies for the agency’s future plans for administrative ethics, leadership, and legal to improve the agency’s operation and its primary recipients. (Title this section Strategies for Consideration to Administrative Processes.)
  5. Recommend two (2) strategies that will provide immediate improvement based on models that influence public policy and the three to four (3-4) strategies presented in criteria four (4) above with a reason each recommendation would bring about improvement.   6. Provide proof of one to two (1-2) interviews by submitting the completed interview form with a list of questions for and responses from each interviewee. (Put this in the Appendix under Interview Forms.)
