Perception Of Disability

Description: You will meet people with disabilities and learn that they also have a broad array of abilities. From Rookie To Reality Case Analysis And Rationale

School safety issues continue to intensify in today’s schools. In addition to ensuring that the building and surrounding areas are safe for everyone on the school campus, the principal must understand his or her authority in disciplining students involved in on- and off-campus activities such as gangs, cyberbullying, disruptive students, sexting, violence, etc.

Part 1: Case Analysis

Using the “Case Analysis Template ,” address each step of the decision-making model to render a decision for Case 24.

PHL 1010-12K-1A19-S4, Critical Thinking Course-To-Course Navigation Unit II

Game Plan

As you journey through this unit and are honing your critical thinking skills, you might recognize many ideas identified in the Game Plan. To assist in your critical thinking process, the Game Plan (located on pages 38-42 in your textbook) was created to help assist you in making critical decisions through the use of ten strategies.

This assignment calls for you to complete a table that will focus on a recent experience in your life. Within the table, you will identify your experience, how you reacted to the experience, two game-plan strategies that could have changed your outcome, and what the new outcome might have been.

Make sure you:

  • Describe the situation and why it was important to you.
  • Describe how you reacted.
  • Identify two of the strategies identified in the book and develop critical thinking questions you would ask yourself as part of your self-assessment.
  • Include bullet points sharing your decision-making process.
  • Address the new outcomes/solutions resulting from the integration of these strategies.

A Class Divided And The Invisible Knapsack Review

Imagine that your principal has come to you and stated that the district is interested in hosting a professional development workshop for educators to help them broaden their cultural competence, improve their family-teacher relationships, and enhance educational experiences for all students. The district is proposing using the materials from “A Class Divided” and “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” for the workshop. Both of these resources are dated, but are often used in schools to introduce faculty to social justice issues that affect educators.

Your principal has asked you to submit a 500-750 word persuasive essay either in support of or against the use of the material in these resources. In your essay, include specific examples that discuss whether the materials could be used to help individuals broaden their cultural competence, build stronger relationships, and create more relevant educational experiences. If you argue that the materials should not be used, offer reputable alternatives for your principal to consider. Be sure to include links and descriptions of the alternative resources. You will need to read Electronic Resource 3: White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack, and watch e-Library Resource: A Class Divided (video) before beginning this assignment.

You will then be writing a ‘For’ or ‘Against’ essay based on the two materials. Reference both sources – why they would, or would not be good materials to use to raise the cultural competence of teachers; concern the thesis of this paper with whether or not these materials should be used for teacher-training and professional development to increase cultural competence.
