Legalized marijuana in medicine.

Hi, need to submit a 1500 words paper on the topic Legalized marijuana in medicine. The history and role of marijuana in our society, cultivation, medical benefits and its eventual prohibition by the federal government has been a subject of controversy, mystery and propaganda. Despite being legal for medical use in 13 states the federal government still classifies marijuana as a Schedule I Controlled Substance under the 1970 Controlled Substance Act. By their own definition a Schedule I substance is classified as. being highly addictive in nature, possesses no medical accepted medical use, and there is a lack of accepted safety for medical use of the drug or substance even under medical supervision, yet research has proven that none of this assumptions are true. As a matter of fact despite the mounting body of scientific and anecdotal evidence suggesting the medical and therapeutic benefits of medical cannabis the federal government refuses to recognize the medicinal value of cannabis. Regardless of the fact that cannabis has been proven to be safer and more effective than a variety of drugs the federal government continues to maintain its unreasonable stance on marijuana prohibition. The financial personal and social costs of prohibition have been great for the public in general that are unfortunate enough to get arrested in a marijuana related incident. Furthermore the goals of prohibition have not being achieved since prohibition has created a black that market increases crime rate drugs availability. As matter of fact it is easier for a minor to buy marihuana than legal drugs such as tobacco or alcohol since distribution is not regulated like for alcohol and tobacco and which directly has caused marihuana to be easier to obtain for has not fallen and has been utterly ineffective at reducing crime rates or hard drug use.

“why” the change and the “makes sense” factor. I would like to offer some solutions to moving forward positively.

250 to 400 words.

Sometimes in our organizations, we do not understand the “why” the change and the “makes sense” factor. I would like to offer some solutions to moving forward positively. Keep in mind, what I am offering here is not “doctrine” in terms of how to deal with change that does not make sense, what I am offering as a solution here are statements to consider to positively communicating forward a change process from a follower’s point of view. The more we help our leadership with the right choices, the better leaders WE become. Here are my “solutions:”

1) Do your own research on the change: This means understanding what the underlining problem set is in the organization and “connect-the-dots” to match how the change process will help solve the problem. This also helps to understand the “why” on your own.

2) Help your staff understand the problem: This means that you are convincing your colleagues there is an underlying problem and should be open to leadership solutions. This helps with the “making sense” part of why change is occurring. Educating your colleagues about the problem helps support the change model that the leader is proposing!

3) Provide constant feedback to your leader: Let the leader know that you are very knowledgeable about the problem set, and why the change needs to occur. Sometimes the positive re-enforcement helps a leader “feel” like they can rely on your knowledge and builds trust and confidence for the team.

4) Provide solutions to mitigating the problem: This does not mean provide a change model option or options to the leader to choose from, but more about providing individual solutions that will fix the problem. The leader will select a change model that would fit to your solution suggestions.

This interaction between the follower and the leader allows for the follower to “follow by example” and eventually lead. If you really think about it, it is the follower providing initiative in a proactive role to the team’s success in the change process. Followers are leaders too! This also helps answer the “why” and “makes sense” on your own.

Both assigned viewings this week focus on binary gender divisions. As the concept of gender as a social construction, as a spectrum, becomes more accepted, what role does popular culture play?

Discuss Culture and Language.

There is an intersection of language, culture and education in the society. Children’s books and videos as artifacts serve to perpetuate stereotypes. They bring deficit views of culture and language. Bodley (16) believe that language and culture motivate stereotypes. The aspect behind it is that when children are born, the language and culture they are exposed to decide their cognitive structure. The thinking structure of those children born in civilized places with civilized language and culture are more intelligent than those born in remote areas that do not have civilized language and culture. Such children tend to think primitively. The assertion is that members belonging to the same racial group have similar characteristics. Therefore, those who come from uncivilized cultural and language background possess the same features of illiteracy. On contrary those from civilized society are more intelligently. It thus leads to contemporary deficit thinking (22).

The artifacts of videos also contribute to the stereotypes in deficit of language and culture. Different video clips have different messages. There are those that can talk about slavery. Take for instance if the a white child is watching the video that the blacks are being mistreated through beatings and abused with obscene language, the child will imitate the behavior. Whenever the child encounters with the black children, he/she will always look at them in the negative perspective abusing them in the in the same way he/she saw in the video. The above incidence is a clear instance that stereotype of race. It does not only stop there, it goes even beyond developing the superior complex over the black’s culture and language (43).
