“Yes, Jim is my husband. What’s happened? What’s wrong?” Carols voice cracked under the strain of uncertainty.

“I’m Lieutenant Keller with the metro police force. I’m sorry Mrs. Burton, but your husband is dead. He was murdered in his office within the last hour. Have you spoken to him lately?”

“No. I tried to call him all afternoon, but he didn’t answer the phone and didn’t return my calls.” Carol’s mind began to race. Something was wrong and the misdeeds started this afternoon with Jim’s absence. It wasn’t like him to not call back or get in touch. “What time was he murdered? Where? How?” There were a million questions racing through Carol’s mind.

“He was shot in his office within the past hour. We’ve got a suspect in custody. We’d like you to come down to the station and talk to us.” Keller’s tone was far too matter of fact. There was a murder that was being treated as trespassing.

“Station? Where? I’m sorry I’m in no mental condition to drive at the moment. Where is my husband?”

“Well send a car for you. Your husband is at the city morgue. We need you to help us with the investigation”. The words seemed to flow so easily from the officer’s lips, but stuck inside and fouled Carol’s ears.

So, in 1914, Ernest Shackleton readied his team to claim the rare prize in the history of exploration, by planning to challenge to cross on foot of the Antarctic continent. They were within eighty-five miles of the continent when their ship Endurance landed in trouble, being trapped and the pressure of the pack ice crushed it. They lost communication with the outside world, little realizing at that stage that their ordeal would last twenty months (Endurance-Shackleton’s Expedition-Antarctica Expedition).

At that time, Shackleton changed the goal of the expedition. The new goal was set to keep all of the crew members alive and return them home safely. They were stranded for twenty months under some of the harshest conditions earth can bring to bear on the human body. Winds could blow up to 80 miles an hour and temperatures could drop as low as -100° F. The men had inadequate food, clothing, and shelter. Yet, despite the seemingly unbearable trials they faced, they survived.&nbsp.

It often thought hinder in my way of studies, preventing me to work hard to secure good grades. In other words, it was in my mind that to be an average student or to be an excellent student is natural but this thought slowly diminishes when one of the teachers talked in the class about the capacity of the human mind to learn and developed. The teacher told that the students who secured good marks or who are thought to be excellent students were those who work hard and do not forget to follow their regular homework. The teacher’s lecture was a motivational factor for me because it changes the thought that the human’s mind to memorize or to understand different things is natural and the thought that a person understands what he or she wants to understand by hardworking and doing given homework regularly (Dweck 27).
